Alabama men's tennis

All of what you say about Alabama’s program is true. Just no consistent building of teams or players. And to think Clemson hired the assistant from that program to be a head coach…

Hire Ramsay Smith - established program builder - pay whatever buyout is necessary to steal him from the Duke dynasty
Any offer that Alabama can make to Duke can be matched by the UVA alumni who are paying Duke to keep him there. Don't even waste your time on this.

Husack will finish his 12th season with only one win in the regular conference season. This quote from the Bama website ...

"My vision for this program is to be a championship contender, not only on the conference stage but also on a national stage," says Husack. "I want to create a culture, a standard. I'm going to be instilling my own thing. I'm used to competing on the last day of the season. I want these guys to experience competing and winning on the last day of the season."

Regarding the roster this year ... Planinsek & Aguiard are stagnant. Samafolov has gone backwards since the day he arrived. Ponce De Leon shows promise - but he's likely to be coached down to mediocrity as so many others have been.

Win over Auburn today

Yes, that brings the conference record for this season to 2-9. Is this something Bama tennis donors should be excited about?

Career conference record is roughly 30% wins - I'll post details later. There was one season that was winless - it was in his sixth or seventh season.

I'll update with full details after the regular season ends.

Is it at the point where you almost don't want the team to pull off upsets like that right now because it just gives Husack ammunition for evidence as to why he should get another year?

I have been told that Husack is very tight with Saban. Is Saban protecting Husack?

I am not a fan of Husack. However, the players have not quit. They continue to play hard.

Sadly the players never develop. Multiple players signed by Husack performed better as frosh & sophs than as seniors. He's been at Bama for 12 years and has yet to have a single season with a winning record in SEC play. In 2022 - his 11th season - Bama went 0-12 in the SEC. His overall SEC winning percentage is 26%. This from a coach who made the famous "I'm used to playing on the last day of the season" comment when he was hired. Husack is a really nice guy, and a high character person. But he's a lousy HC for SEC tennis. Not the only mistake Bill Battle made in hiring.
