In 2024 Alcaraz didn't play much in the clay season before Roland Garros...
Monte Carlo DNP
Barcelona DNP
Madrid QF
Rome DNP
Looks extremely likely he'll profit BIGLY this year :happydevil:

Alcaraz's strong performance in recent tournaments positions him to close the gap with Sinner to just 2,160 points, especially since the Italian is currently suspended due to a doping positive until at least May.

If Alcaraz successfully defends his title at Indian Wells and performs well in upcoming clay events, including either the Monte Carlo or Madrid Masters 1, along with regaining the Barcelona tournament he won in 2022 and 2023, he could arrive in Rome poised to challenge for the number one ranking.

Yes, but he will need to make sure he doesn't slip up in the defense of his IW title.

Then he has that clay season to really rack up the points, because after that, he has 4000 points to defend between RG and W.

Not my number 1, Asteriked number one!

Sinner is and remains the true number one.
Not any more asterisked than Sinner stat padding titles last year after the Olympics while Alcaraz was burned out.

Alcaraz should have managed to get over the Olympic loss faster.

Sinner should have hired better.

Things happen, the tour moves on

Anyway, I don’t think he’s getting the n1. He’ll need to win 3 of the masters. Not happening imo but he’ll get very close

He needs 3,720 points out of 4,500 available to become number 1. Possible but not easy at all. And that's not even considering Zverev which is ahead of him atm.

Zverev won Rome 2024, so he can't gain much before Roland Garros, whereas Alcaraz won nothing before Roland Garros... so I don't consider Zverev a contender for #1.

In Rome Sinner will be back. I was calculating before the Italian Opens. Zverev needs less point than Alcaraz to become number 1 before Rome.
