Alcaraz believes he can beat Nadal at the French Open “I think I could beat him, but Rafa has a thousand lives there”

Nadal doesn't boast. He just does it through his actions when he's pumping himself up like a boxer, jumping up and down at the net during the coin toss and trying to intimidate his opponent like he's about to go to war.
He is going to war, in a competitive sporting sense.

Let's say Alcaraz and Djokovic play a real close RG match, one that could go either way. Doesn't that blow Fedfans' argument out of the water?

Djokovic's age is 15 senior of Alcaraz. Federer/Djokovic difference is only 6.

Or a Nadal/Alcaraz match?

16 years ( for the sake of accuracy ) Alcaraz was born May 5th 2003 , Djokovic May 22 1987,

You are right.
Lot of Novak fans are only excited at Alcaraz because Alcaraz is in a position to take out Nadal.
If Alcaraz was a grass courter and priming for wimbledon then a lot of his new found fans would be bashing him today..

As Djokovic fan I've always relied on him ,&him ONLY. Nothing changed.
I'll not become Alcaraz fan (not that I'm basher either ) just because he maybe "can" beat Nadal on clay or elsewhere
Also I don't see disrespect some of nadal fans complaining about
If he thinks he can beat Nadal just imagine what he would do to Djokovic in case they meet. What a beat up that would be!
Alcaraz won last Nadal match a bit easier than Djokovic's . Nadal bots have amnesia it seems. Thinks but would do .LOL

Jumping up and down in front of the opponent's face the way he does is a way to try to intimidate the opponent.
Alcaraz does the same, maybe not in each match he plays, but he often jumps in front of opponent at the net before match .He surely must’ve looked up to elder Spaniard champ

Fedfans' theory has no merit whatsoever anyway!

There's no proof that Federer in 00's was much better than in 10's.

There's definite proof that Djokovic did or would've taken down prime Fed. He did win 7 straights over '11 Nadal, who've prevailed over '10 Nadal, who just won 3 slams in a year for the only time. And we all knew what teen age Nadal did to prime Fed!

Of course. Anything's possible. Djokovic probably beats anyone in history on any surface. At least on the slowed modern day courts.

No, it's his pre-game routine.
It depends on each player if he is affected by it.
:D
It's not a pre-game anything. It's mental warfare. All that stuff can be done in the locker room. Even when he's carrying an injury, he still does it to get in the other guy's head.

How anyone is twisting this to be a bad thing...

The statement isn't cocky or arrogant. It's realistic and also respectful, and he has no control over how old Nadal is this year. What do you want from him?
It's a joke to even talk about beating Nadal right now. We all know (and Alcaraz himself knows it too) that he would be lucky to win 5-6 games against 2008 Nadal.

And we all know that all match-ups are the same so if player A beats player B, who beats player C, player A will also beat player C.... or not.

Props for the bolded though, that's funny

As far as I can read on TTW, Rafa's the favorite at Rome, FO and Wimbledon.
No harm in for Alcaraz to think he can beat him. We've had too many Ruuds and Thiems who had absolutely zero belief they deserved to be on PC with Rafa. And played like it
Sure, as if the 2019 or even 2022 version is the same as Nadal's 2023.
I think Thiem would have liked to face 37-year-old Nadal, with a battered body, no game rhythm, with confidence on the floor.
Wow, he would have loved it!
:notworthy:

Thiem is a nobody in front of Future Carlos. Even current Carlos is peaking higher than Peak Thiem right now. So it doesn't matter to me how old Nadal is. Be very scared.

Alcaraz is already prepared for Wimbledon. His fh is WOW. He may even win Wimbledon this year. He is that good.

He certainly has game to play the surface, but we will see if he develops better strategy to apply it this year. I'd actually put Djo, Kyrgios, and even Fritz (yes, Taylor) ahead of him at this point. Maybe he has improved a great deal and I am wrong, but based on what we have seen to this point, he still has work to do there.

I think his game is already better than Kyrgios and Fritz. Hopefully we will soon see Berrettini, Kyrgios, Alcaraz, Sinner all challenging Novak.
