Alcaraz is carrying the tour

You can have aura and still not be a great player or famous winner in tennis.

Fognini wasn’t that good, top 10 for a little and won a masters but had near unmatchable aura. Sinner on the contrary is the best player of his generation and has the aura and personality of a stick.
Yes

Sinner is the best of his generation.

I would have to disagree here, he is massive part of it, absolutely no question about it, but Sinner has been the back bone of tennis these past 12 months. He is a fitting and deserving world number one right now.
Exactly. Without the heavyweight champion , the tour will die. He carries it.

When you move from judging the only thing that matters (i.e. the verdict of the field) to marginal issues such as the title of the thread or the discussion about who exudes the most aura, it means that as far as the only thing that matters (the verdict of the field) the arguments in favor of Alcaraz begin to run out if the counterpart is Sinner.

I don’t know, he’s been looking kind of downtrodden on hard courts this season.
He is carrying nothing. Sinner has won 7 titles already. And maybe will win 8th by end of the year plus Davis cup.

Nole carried tennis till 2023. He won 7 last year. Including almost all 4 slams.

Raz is flashy come and go player.

I guess Alcaraz doesn’t have access to them good doping drugs like Sinner I guess. How many failed doping tests was it for Sinner again? 1? 2? 3? No announcement til several months later too. ;)

Also hey only Sinner gets access to sickness being a legitimate precursor to a big tournament loss.

How do you figure he's better than Carlos when Carlos has won more and is younger not to mention went 3-0 against him during Sinner's best year
Sinner’s best year is probably next year… unless the tennis gods decide to punish him.

Lol

Your resentment towards Sinner is my strength.
You are so obsessed with the solidity of the Sinner player that;

1) You put it in the middle by trying to deny it even when a user was talking about something completely different.

2) The only thing you have left to hold onto between now and the next 15 years will always be those two positivities that you can exploit at will, filling your mouth with inaccuracies to give birth to certain fantasies, given that as far as the tennis played is concerned, the arguments for those like you intent on denigrating Sinner are increasingly scarce.

I'm sorry, the Sinner monster from the Beijing 2023 tournament is out of the bottle and after subsequently beating Djokovic in the Davis Cup by canceling 3 match points, now you can't close that monster again, but it will always be there hovering in your subconscious.

Now he's playing with the weight of the possible incoming ban on his head... when he will be able to play mentally free we will see his real level... wich may be skyhigh. Anyway Alcaraz is a fantastic player too and i hope their rivalry will carry on the tour for the years to come.

He won't get banned for long if he even gets. He is carrying the sport. You can't ban him.

If Sinner is suspended the tour is essentially dead unless someone steps up to take his place. Sorry but Carlos just isn’t consistent enough now. He may be only dominated for half a season of that. That means someone else has to step up and become a superstar.

Sinner in general is just an aura-less carrot anyways.
Medvedev doesn’t inspire anyone and neither does the rest of the top 10. Just a bunch of names. Guys like Berdych, Tsonga, Davydenko, Gasquet had insane aura. Now we’ve got “Alex de Minaur”. I guess Dimitrov is still around…
Berdych had “aura”? He seemed to have a pretty girlfriend.
Davydenko had “aura”? He did have perseverance.
Tsonga certainly had personality.

Loved Gasquet’s backhand.
But if Gasquet had “insane aura,” then it certainly does not equate to winning.

Yeah out of all of these the only exciting one was only Tsonga who could come up with insane and creative stuff at any point of the match. But the others were mostly good players and that's it.

Alcaraz has been 6-1 and 6-0d 6 times already this year , 25 times in his whole career

Sinner is embarrassed 25 times as well but has 2 more years of career.

Rafael Nadal 70 times in much longer career.

GOAT just 55 times in more matches played

Roger Federer just 57 times in even more matches played

If Raz doesn't stop carrying the sport the way he has been, he would soon top the list among these 6 Raz fans.

Nadal retiring. Djokovic close to retiring. That’s basically the two GOATs gone right there. There’s too much drama and controversy with Sinner’s doping and Zverev’s domestic violence cases. Sinner in general is just an aura-less carrot anyways.

Alcaraz is the last hope for the tour going forward. Kid is good and has incredible aura. Time to get behind him.

Yep. He's one of the few that are worth watching. Pro tennis pretty much sucks today. Or maybe I just got spoiled by the Big 3.

Well, I agree with some things, but have to disagree on others.

Of course Nadal is a huge loss and Djokovic WOULD be the next one. However, who knows if he's really THAT close to retirement.

Of course the Sinner doping case is bad for tennis, but other than that I don't see why he should have less an aura than Alcaraz. They are both great players, each in his way. If excessive fistpumping would be needed to create an aura, then Borg, Sampras and Federer would also never have created an aura. "Fire" AND "Ice", both creates an aura.

I also don't see how Berdych, Tsonga, Davydenko and Gasquet had an "insane aura". On the contrary, I would much rather bet on Medvedev challenging Sinner/Alcaraz than the guys you mentioned challenging the Big 3. Of course that's also because the Big 3 were better, but my point is, there was not much of an "aura" around a challenge from those guys back then.

And the Zverev case is over, like it or not. In real life nobody ever talked about it anyway. Not even my mother cared about it, and she's a big sports fan and frequently shows her dislike of Zverev. In my tennis club it was a non-topic either.

Alcaraz is the largest attraction of viewers and fans for sure right now, but I would put Sinner up there for leading the tour. Both come up with non-fan tennis friends, and still also Federer and Nadal, so they are in good company.

Been saying that since 2022. Kept telling Rafa fans on social media that Carlos is the guy take the mantle from Rafa for the next decade just as Rafa took it from Roger and Roger from Pete.
Alcaraz is box office. Dont know why he bothers with the indoor season, he hates indoor tennis, always has since a kid.

He is number 1.
Has 3,500 more points than Raz.
More consistent overall.
70-5.
H2H is not a good metric. Pretty sure Fritz has more wins vs Zverev, would you say Fritz is better?

Another win for sinner in his best year on the tour. Alcaraz couldn't carry his country from qf.

While sinner carried back to back Davis cup wins. Including decider doubles last year in semis.

In all fairness, Italy possesses a better tennis team in 2024 than Spain.

I mean, Sinner + Berrettini + Musetti >>>>> Alcaraz + virtually retired Nadal.

Alcaraz is special player.

Yes Davis cup is not individual achievement at all. Italy has a strong team, would be very strong if Berrettini becomes fit.
