Alcaraz lived by the dropshot and almost died by it too ...

Set 5. great tactic to start sprinkling in more droppers vs Sinner due to tired legs.

actually it was the drop shot point that got him the opening break.

but he I think went to the well one too many times. hit a great drop shot at 15-30 5-4 serving ... and then committed one of the cardinal sins of tennis.
Admiring your drop shot from the baseline (can we blame him sometimes? theyre beautiful) and not following it in to no mans land and split stepping in case the other guy gets there...
and Jannik, all credit to him, hustles his guts out to get to it and hits (almost by accident or out of circumstance), imho the best reply to a drop shot. Another drop shot to go up 15-40 and then break.

but young jedi learned from his mistake. 4-0 TB. hits another gorgeous dropper inches off the net fh side. BUT he FOLLOWED it in to no mans land. Sinner again scoops it up but Alcaraz is ready this time w the swing volley to put it away cross court.

and yall know the rest....

Follow your drop shots in kids..

I think it was a no brainer to drop shot in set 5.

That TB shot from Sinner was actually going out but incredible presence of mind from Carlos to pick it without letting the ball bounce.

I think the 5-6 game to come from 15-30 were the highlights of the match.. Kind of like Fed's AO17 5th set BH rippers.
