Alcaraz more majors, Sinner more weeks at #1?

No one.

Carlos is a FREAK by physique. He is 21 but he already had 3 peak seasons. He will suffer just like Nadal in older age.

Maybe not at Nadal's level but we all saw how many Wimbledons the Spaniard won post 2010.
Carlos is a freak because of his racquet skills and his vision, too. The physique definitely helps, although Sinner is as much of a freak physically speaking. For his height he is an incredible mover, and his balance and ability to hit the ball with great violence and control is quite remarkable.

Do you think Nadal's issues were the cause for his lackluster performance in Wimbledon later on? I think he had a lot of bad luck, combined with an issue of him being so good on the clay, and the grass and clay seasons being so close to each other.

His issue was clear with knees. As he got older the issues become more frequent. But Nadal also lost a tonne of speed. He was still competitive post 2017 was a miracle. But in the end leftiness is always there for him.

Yes, his knees were a liability at Wimbledon more than at the other majors for sure, that is a good point.

But my point is that it is easier for a player to be consistent when he limits his game within certain parameters and avoids pushing the boundaries for the sake of being creative. Creativity requires a riskier approach, and a lower margin of error. This is an additional reason why Federer's dominance in the first part of his career is so impressive. It is obvious Sinner is a more pragmatic player than Alcaraz at this point, more machine-like. I have no idea how Alcaraz's game will evolve, but I hope he avoids being more conservative for the sake of being more consistent. I will take Alcaraz as is right now, even if a different, tamer version of him could achieve more in terms of results.
Got it. Federer's attacking, creative game was what fed my tennis soul. Echo your wish for Carlitos - love his attacking game / the ability to turn defense to attack and change momentum when he is on.

Yah, man. These kids bring it, lucky us.

@THUNDERVOLLEY the way you reply within quotes makes it impossible to reply to your messages.

What you are describing is typical "fan" behavior, and Sinner "fans" do the same with Alcaraz.
I have that user on ignore. A profoundly ignorant poster, one who's eternally raging at one thing or the other. It's a waste of time to have conversations with such folks.

I am new here, but I will keep an eye, thank you. When someone replies like that it's impossible to quote.

If you watch the USO 2022 match it is hard to believe that this is a match between 19 and 21 year old players. Their matches seem to almost always deliver, probably also because of the contrasting styles bringing the best in each other.

There's not another player who is the source of wild hype coupled with constant attempts to tear down his opponents than Alcaraz. Its all there in countless TTW threads, so the negative / overboard fan behavior scales are heavily weighed for Alcaraz.

"Hype" is only hype when it isn't backed by results. Alcaraz has delivered the goods, both in terms of results and in terms of providing entertainment and excitement on the court. I think a large part of the tennis fan base doesn't want to go back to another 10 years of baseline boredom.

One of my favourite matches that. It'll forever be remembered.

Yes, this is true. I just watched Griekspoor getting slaughtered by Alcaraz and it reminded me a lot of Fed at his brightest. It is breathtaking tennis, but it is too one sided. We need good rivalries like this one.
Yeah, I mean as a Fed fan I loved that lol, but if you were not a fan of Fed then it was brutal. Hence Rafas rise was huge. Massive impact on the tour. If Sinner goes away, that Fonesco guy or whatever better be legit. Cause the tour will be a snooze fest unless you are a Carlos fan.

I'm looking forward to just watching them play tennis instead of getting wrapped up in numbers like we did for the entire Big 3 era.

I'm not invested enough to care who wins more or who has more time at #1. I'm just hoping for a healthy rivalry for many years to come.
