Alcaraz: "My brother Alvaro will be my coach in the tournament without Samuel Lopez"

He was already clearly acting as a "second coach," behind Samuel López,
but it is really surprising to see Alcaraz saying this, according to Carlitos' words in a conversation with spanish sportspaper "Marca", his brother would be the main coach in tournaments Samu decides not to travel to.

Alcaraz :
"In some events, my brother will be the only one traveling with me. It is clear that Samu will accompany me to the most important tournaments of the year and not everything I play, but my brother will be on his own as the main coach"

Now Ferrero firing is more clear, the Family wanted that big money to remain in the Alcaraz clan, im sure this is a training time for Alvaro before firing Samuel couple season. That "Familia" culture is undefeated.

Carlos has also said this will only happen a couple of times a year.

Brother bond is different
Well, he had a coach for a couple of years he didn't listen to, and that guy was with him since he was a kid. I don't know how much he is going to listen to anyone else he hires who tells him how to play tennis. Maybe some sense of stability and being brought down to Earth is all he needs. Not everyone is the same.

I was skeptical of the Ferrero dumping when it happened, and he's just proven all such doubters spectacularly wrong (in the short term, anyway). I'll trust he knows what he needs until I see otherwise.

Why not take Krakingen along for free advice?

coaching on this type of starpower and talent is a bit overrated.

His coach will have heavy duties in his hands, like washing Carlos' shorts or handling Carlos the rackets at every practice.

I forgot, Nike is responsible for 10 brand new shorts per practice.

1. I don't remember the exact dates, but Federer didn't have any coach at all for a good chunk of the best years of his life. Rochey was in there for a bit. I think that was about it.

2. Alvaro has been there for him since the very start, so it seems fair that he might have some clue.

Good point, I think for the most talented players a coach has limited need beyond a certain point in their career

Sammy lopez gave valuable advise to alcaraz in second set. The change of playing high balls with heavy topspin lengthened the rallies, tired djokovic and turned the match.
Carlos is now a finished product. He can have no coach or keep anyone as coach and still win tournaments.
Lets see how long samuel lopez survives
