Alcaraz New Custom Shoes

Why would they not sell them retail? Too expensive to produce?
That’s surely not the reason. Those are a piece of plastic with elements of textile and rubber. Nothing like carbon fiber or other things. I also love how some people describe them as not durable, only cause it has the silouhette of a vp1, this shoes were never seen with a hole on the upper while used by carlos like it was with vp1. But other than that none really knows the real reason especially since almost every tennis nike-alcaraz fan want them.

Did they ever release Rafa's actual Cages? Or just continue with the Cage 4's (to this day), still releasing new colourways for a shoe Rafa never actually used?

The intention was to get people to buy the current retail shoe - which was the v11 and now is the v12. I'm sure they hoped he (and the others) would switch, but they've now committed to the V12 releases over the next two years.
Due to the time involved for something to get through design, production and marketing we still wouldn't see them for at least a year, where again they'd probably be planning for the next release.

So instead, I'd be more interested if they actually consulted him and the other pros in the initial design stage, for the next iteration like Fed did back in the day. If the outcome is - just release the actual Alcaraz hybrid (which they clearly can produce already), and keep the main vapor line separate - brilliant everyone wins :) One would think this could even take up the Cage silo in the line-up.

Once we get to the next Aero release for example, and Carlos keeps winning slams, I would expect Babolat to give him a signature colourway.

I've been at the AO everyday, and had a lot of casual fans asking me about the shoe and to be honest most people just see the colour and don't think deeper than that,
and would walk straight to the Nike store and buy them on the spot - I expect to see a bunch of them around courts here over the next few weeks.

I agree but i think the main problem here is that if they release Carlos customs those would put the vapors 12 in the shadow in a hearthbeat. That is the sad reality. I wonder why he wants to keep the vapor 11 upper, i know its great looking but at this point its probably functional for him

Agree there as well I'm still gonna bet they at least try and Frankenstein the features that Carlos likes about the pro/v11 custom onto the V12 upper by the end of the year.

I can't remember if Oscillates were in production till 2002 when he stopped playing, but they did stay on the market pretty long after their intro in 96/97.

He def had a custom version with extra vents on the side (most notable in his FO/clay versions cause the mesh vents would pick up dirt), no clue if he had custom last (probably), shank carbon fiber (maybe?), outsole seemed pretty standard.
Do you know when the last time was that Nike did an Oscillate reissue? I seem to remember a white / navy reissue around 2015, and possibly a few (an Olympics colourway?) after that date?

I believe you are correct, there was a 2015 release with the original white/navy and a safari. Not sure if any after that.

Guys do someone knows if the alcaraz RG and Olympics yellow shorts were mass produced? Cause i cant find them anywere exception made for ebayy were a guy was selling them for 300€

I searched the item number on those shorts, and nothing popped up for the regular tennis retailers. So yes, it is probably a PE item. A lot of the sleeveless tanks that Kyrgious, Alcaraz, Tiafoe wear in the last few years are PE as well

True!...However even if they were 90% v12, the v12 would qualify as Alcaraz shoes but if he will wear them in official tournaments; in January it didn't go that way..

Just not seeing the nike swoosh anywhere on the outsole in the video/images.. neither in vp1 or v12 location.
Ever since the v12s came out, they stopped coloring in the swoosh on the outsole of his pe's. Even in the pictures of him "testing the v12s" from this post it looks like a vp1 outsole.

Vp1 clay outsole confirmed then? The uniform (as opposed to curvy) herringbone tread as well as the nike swoosh outline position match vp1 not v12..

yep exactly. its a vp1 clay outsole, just with the swoosh of the same color of the other sole parts

Yes thanks...And thanks also to innoV...
Anyway, except for the sole the rest is vapor 12 (similar to Nadal - eg zoom cage 3 and Federer with the various Vapor); so a good advertisement for the shoe, if he will also use it in official matches :)
