Wimbledon dress code rules probably I think the logo can only be certain size. Also reselling like that is insane, I remember when people were selling luxilon O dampeners for like $50 a piece and justified it by saying "I know what these are worth" in the item description lol.

I considered that notion, but they allow it last year. & the Nike guys wore these at the French/grass tune ups too. Pretty confusing all around, why remove branding from apparel ? Makes zero sense

Its on the bottom still it is strange, I would have assumed dress code + they get new gear at the French that is meant to last them till Wimbledon so they get their grass stuff in Paris usually.

Don't think this needs an entire thread, but while talking CA's custom Wimbledon stuff... which bag is this? Cow print? I figure the pattern is a PE but curious what model it is. Maybe this is more a safari print for the Olympics Nike stuff?

EDIT - maybe just the standard Brasilia duffle?

Ohh cool, great sleuthing.

I think it is that one but maybe the bigger version as CA's had different connectors for the should strap. Or just an updated model? Totally weird they would give that one to him to use as it's not specifically some kinda limited or QS and isn't for sale any more, wonder if it's just one he personally likes.

Guys hello everyone im new here.
Im really obsessed on why nike doesn’t sell the actual version that Carlos wears…i hope they are waiting to release his merch and logos, so that maybe the will release this shoes (vapor 3s?) everyone wants those and not vapors 11

Welcome!

I think the likelihood of Nike selling the actual Alacaraz shoe is very slim to 0%. All we have to do is look at previous or current examples of Federer and Nadal. Fed's Vapors were highly custom Vapor9/9.5/X, including a custom outsold. Nadal's Cage is a completely different model of the Vapor Cage on the market.

Thank you for the warm welcome!
I know well the shoe history of rog and rafa, but at least they were providing similar shoes until vapor 9.5 and cage 3s. Now the silhouette is complete different, vapor 11s looks completely goofy, like a knockoff that should be priced not more than 80€. I mean it’s not a matter of materials cause Alcaraz shoes are made of the same materials of the vapor 11, unlike roger real shoes with the carbon fiber so its only a controversy, i don’t really get why they don’t produce the real deal!

I also think that as silly as this sounds, the fact that the shoe is so close to an "old" model is huge reason we won't ever see it. Nike will see it too much as a step backwards. I do wonder just how customized the shoe actually is. From pictures it basically just looks like a normal VP1 with that VP11 material around the outsole which probably adds some stability/rigidity.

I'm with you that the Vapor 11 price point just doesn't seem justified. I still haven't tried them myself but if I'm trading some weight for durability and then have to pay a premium the shoe better last twice as long as my VP1. The premium price makes sense if they managed to keep the weight low and make it more durable but to give you one thing and take another, I'm not so sold. While I like the look of both, the VP1 is still my favorite. I was hopeful when that Vapor 9.5 popped back up but in my opinion Nike totally flopped on every single colorway that was released for it. Crossing my fingers that there is a better V12 or VP3 out in the near-ish future and my two pairs of VP1 I'm alternating between hold up long enough to bridge that gap.

I believe the V12 has been confirmed to basically be the same as the current V11.

Nike really made a mistake back in 2021, basically splitting the Vapor line with the Vapor NXT and Vapor Pro, the NXT being the more elite version. The NXT eventually became the V11, and VP2 became a takedown version of the V11, scrapping the VP1 mold. They really need to bring back the VP1 mold and just take the V11/V12 line and give it another name.

What I've also noticed too is that for each one of us that's a gear nerd that actually discerns these differences, there are 20-30 others that just don't care. In my old neighborhood every single person I played with was out there to play tennis. None of them, even the guys better than me, had much interest in gear specifics.

yep that’s true. I mean we like to be stylish too other than comfortable lol

Yeah I really love some Nike designs but… Osakas GP and Turbos were mostly only for women (glad I bought 2 mens models before discontinuation), Alcaraz shoes unavailable, Vapors 9.5 unavailable. Moved to Asics for good.

Yeah, and what I don't get is Fed's and Nad's were pretty highly customized..these are mostly just Vapor Pro's with a different upper.
Doesn't seem like they'd be that difficult to mass produce for a reasonable price.
Good point - that’s a mid/outsole combo that people have had retail. The fed Nadal tooled shoes were way more 1:1 / custom than this. Wouldn’t be hard for them, but we’ve gotten used to having no way of explaining their strategic decisions

lol good point mate

I do wonder if they will concede and start reissuing shoes. Vapor 12 has gotten some good feedback from those who have seen it. Until then, we wait
I'm sure you saw a couple posts up, they have done (or are doing) at least one re-release of the Vapor Pro now.

It will be curious to see if Alcaraz will wear these vapor pro, or a version similar to the shoes he is using now, therefore a little different from the vapor pro and with pieces of vapor 11

He's been in this shoe pictured above for quite some time now and based on how long some of the other Nike sponsored athletes will stay in old shoes I'm guessing he'll have an endless supply as long as he stays relevant.

Man that'd be such a good shoe if they'd let us have it!
That’s the thing, it’s incredible how the continue their tactic to sell vapors 11 and vapor pros 2 instead of those, everyone knows that people prefer what alcaraz actually wears!
The only thing that i can think of is that someone at nike would be released or something if they stopped producing vapors 11, maybe cause it would mean the “failure” of the vapor 11 project
Another thing that comes to my mind is that Alcaraz wants something that none can have apart from him, i mean who knows?
