Alcaraz Rune Sinner won’t have name popularity

unfortunately, Carlos or Alcaraz, Holger or Rune(ah) Jannik or Sinner names just don’t have any POP as a Roger or Fed(erer) Rafa or Nadal or Pete or Andre Borg Johnny Mac etc
Novak lacks it as well and he not nearly as popular as his rivals.
Jordan Kobe Lebron etc hell L James has been playing for 20 years and still carries the NBA
So despite being great you need a great name and the next “big 3” just don’t have it.

I totally agree with you. The part where you explain that novaks name lacks any punch I really liked. Well pointed out.

If his personality were different, he would be quite a Rockstar.

More than personality, he needs performance. If he was a 3 time grand slam winnerat 22 then he could have been marketed as a bad boy who will bring down Big 3's records as he is a rockstar

Look at Alexander Zverev, if he had won 5-6 grand slams by now then he could have been marketed as Alexander the Great

Performance matters for sure, marketing is only possible if you rule on the court.

You gotta have a cool name to be an ATG. Bjorn Borg wouldn’t be who he is if his name was Bobby Samson.

Borg is a cool last name but Bjorn is not a good first name.

A superstar name would be Zinedine Zidane....this sounds royal

Lionel Messi(ah) ... this sounds royal too

Such names complimenting talent of the player are rare.

Carlos is a great, classic, solid name. And Sinner is perfect for marketing.

Couldn't disagree more on those two. Now, whether they became as good as the other names you mentioned? Who knows.

And Novak being not as popular as Rafa and Fed has nothing to do with his name. Or his game. It's his weird, phony personality.

We are way past the days when Federer would have ESPN commercials. I don't see a star after Federer and possibly Nadal too. Nadal might have benefited due to Federer's popularity. Fed was Uber popular.

No one is coming near Federer popularity in these days of genz and TikTok. Sorry if I sound old but it's the truth. Tennis is now old men sport.

Lol, what does this username even mean?

1. CA has said many times he doesn’t like being called Carlos and prefers Carlito or Charlie. I don’t see Nike selling those names …he will be popular due to a complete lack of competition for the next few years at least. Nike should go HEAVY on “bone crusher” for him.
2. Holger just isn’t sellable
3. No way Nike puts “Sinner” on merch and he has the personality of a tree stump.
4. It’s likely Nike will let the last two go sooner than later as no one in the world is going to be like “I wanna wear Jannik’s line with a carrot top logo or anything Holger is wearing.
5. The point here is that atp and Nike need sellable stars and at best only Carlito is sellable and that’s by default ….

Who is sellable are players like Tiafoe and Kyrgios. They don't win all the time but have personality. Sinner looks like he is 60. No energy.

Nike signed 150mill $ contract with Sinner for nothing?

It's funny, Rafa was not a nickname I heard from any latinos until Nadal came along. Suddenly, Mexicans, Brazilians and other latinos named Rafael go by Rafa. I used to hear Rafi.
Roger was cool because it made you think of Roger Moore, James bond. Smooth and debonair.
- James is a freak. Nobody's knees lasts that long and plays at that high level.

I disagree with Novak's last name not having a punch. His last name is pretty cool. Djokovic is probably one of the coolest Serbian last names.
