Alcaraz - Sinner match up reminds me of Sampras - Courier match up in many aspects.

When Jim Courier was at his peak, he could beat anybody else when playing his best tennis, except Pete Sampras. Courier faced so many heart-breaking defeats against Sampras (like 1995 Australian Open QF, 1995 US Open SF, 1996 French Open SF, etc..) which completely demotivated him and derailed his career. I see the same trend in the Alcaraz - Sinner rivalry. When Jannik Sinner plays his best tennis, he can beat any opponent, but he cannot beat Carlos Alcaraz. This year French Open final, US Open final, Italian Open final, etc.. clearly proves that point. Also Sinner has already faced some heart-breaking defeats against Alcaraz by losing from winning positions (like this year's French Open final, 2022 US Open QF, etc..). I feel that this year's Wimbledon final is an exception rather than norm just like the 1994 French Open QF between Sampras and Courier in which Courier managed to beat Sampras against the norm. Also, the personality and attitude of Alcaraz and Sinner are very much similar to Sampras and Courier respectively. Jannik Sinner reminds me of Jim Courier with his similarity in appearance, grey colored hair and baseball cap while Carlos Alcaraz reminds me of Pete Sampras again because of his similar appearance (I feel that Sampras looked more or less like Alcaraz at the same age), competitive nature, extreme focus and winning spirit. I think that the history repeats itself. What do you think?

I have posted this numerous times over the past year. You are correct in all you say and while we arent there yet (i.e when Courier lost belief) if Sinner loses to Carlos at AO next season i think its going to be tough for Jannick moving forward mentally like it was for Courier. That said im backing Sinner to win AO and W again and Carlos FO and USO if both remain healthy next season.

Courier did beat Sampras 4 times, which included their 1991 US Open quarter final when Sampras was reigning champion, their 1992 YEC semi final when Sampras was reigning champion, and their 1994 French Open quarter final when Sampras was trying to win 4 majors in a row.
