Lots of people have been saying it's nice to have an open FO where there are a few contenders to win. I'm not sure that's the case if Alcaraz wins again. He was favourite for the event months ago and if he wins this year will have lost only one match on clay the whole season. He has Musetti next and probably Sinner in the final and they are probably nowadays along with Alcaraz the best clay courters around.
If Alcaraz wins it would mean 3 wins v Musetti this clay court season and 2 v Sinner. You would have to start thinking less about it being an open event every year as to potential winners but more a case of how many in a row can Alcaraz win and will he overtake Borg.
As consistent as Sinner is, and he has been fabulous this event, he does not have the variety of Alcaraz or the movement and on clay I think Alcaraz is always going to be a tough match up for him if Alcaraz plays well.
Fridays Semis look set to be indoors so maybe that helps Musetti a bit as the ball will be lower bouncing for his BH. Still can't see Musstti getting a set though
