The questions are about to be answered very soon about the legitimacy of Alcaraz's assault on the Roland Garros crown, as he takes on the incomparable Wolf in his opening round match.

The Wolf can be dangerous, and with the uncertainty of the fitness of Carlos, this could turn into a bit of a war.

Liking what I’m seeing from Alcaraz so far. I was worried he’d be much worse. Still feeling out his game and the court and everything clearly and he’ll need to pick it up big time if he wants to win the title, but for his first set back after injury, I’ll take it.

Wolf with just 1 winner and I think that was an ace?! 12 UFEs is too much if he wants to be competitive against Carlos.

What a brutal point!

And Alcaraz is finally starting to use that inside in forehand. Very good to see.
Seems to be going more for spin and placement on the forehand rather than brute force. Just running JJ ragged when he gets the opportunity. The backhand is more about brute force and depth, but he’s done that well today too. Honestly, couldn’t have asked for a better opening round from Carlos so far, although I’m curious to see how strong he looks when he faces someone who can actually play top-100 tennis on this surface lol.

Hopefully he continues to get better. I like what I see so far. The shots are coming.

I can’t watch. Has he finally shortened his takeback and added a bit more spin to it? I’m so tired of that super flat backhand. At its worst it reminds me of Norrie’s.
Oh god, I was wondering for a while which player that BH reminds me of and now you revealed it;)
