Alcaraz the next short king like Agassi?

Discuss. Both are 5,10 short kings and possess serious weapons off the baseline. The serve, is just to start the point, but points are mainly won off the baseline. Agassi never had a big serve, but probably more pop on the hard courts.

Alcaraz got more variety than Agassi at the net and much better defence and slice. Probably going to be a lot better than Agassi on clay and grass courts. Agassi was not that good on Grass in a tougher , faster era for grass.

Both have similar flat shots especially on the backhand side.

Agassi wouldn't be able to return more than 20% of Zedrots first serve back in play with the modern advancements made

6 foot Tiny gives new hope to insecure shorter men, both on tour and regular weekend hackers. Obviously, you can still be under 6'4 and become no. 1, IF you are gifted with exceptional speed and strokes...

He won Wimbledon and made another final there, losing to Sampras. Any player who has won Wimbledon, even once, is a phenomenal grass player. Only on TTW do we get "analysis" of this pathetically low level.
And what a Wimbledon it was. He might have only picked up one but he did it in insane fashion, winning it primarily from the baseline (in an era where that simply wasn't done) and doing so against Ivanisevic, a player that was only a hair behind Sampras in terms of guys you really didn't want to play on grass. Honorable mention to the absolute wars he had with Rafter, a man whose game seemed perfectly tuned for SW19 despite his two majors coming at the USO.

Alcaraz probably maximizes a perfect balance between power and speed by not being super tall or short and having decent muscle.

Outside the serve his build is perfect for the modern game. As we saw with Nadal you don't need a huge serve to do well as long as you have a great FH to combo it.

What will set Alcaraz apart will definitely be his movement where he can be anywhere on the court to bring variety and a constant mix of defense and offense.

He will definitely surpass Agassi. But i don't see him dominating Australia or indoors. Yet i can see him winning one or two AO. Sinner and others will dominate there.

Carlos will surpass Agassi's slam count and become greater than him.

Agassi is the best pure ball striker that I’ve ever seen. At his best, he was incredibly good. Unfortunately, his peak was cut way short by mental demons at that time. But make no mistake about his peak, which was at an ATG level.

I can't unsee Alcarax's plumped up lips and mono brow every time he pumps his fist after each and every point when the camera zooms in, never mind his height

Their games are completely different. Alcaraz has a bigger range of shots and better movement and plays a more all-court style. Agassi was far more baseline orientated and against other players of their own time Agassi was a lot more dominant in power baseline rallies.

Alcaraz is king of the giants actually, because he hits the ball harder than all the giants, and hits more winners than all the giants.
Agassi whereas took the ball early, but was bossed around at times by the big guys, especially by Sampras.
Even when Agassi won the 1999 US Open, Todd Martin was controlling the points, while Agassi was just keeping the errors down and playing smart.
Everything is on Alcaraz's racquet..... he's the most powerful baseliner in tennis history (plus he's great at net too).

I completely agree with this. To this day, some of the best tennis I’ve seen are the Federer - Agassi matches from the 2004 and 2005 USOs. The two best ball strikers in the history of the game going toe-to-toe.

How would Alcaraz and Agassi match up? The game has changed some in the last 20 years. Proliferation of poly. Players sliding on hard courts (Alcaraz among the best of this).

As mentioned above, Alcaraz moves a lot better than Agassi. A little bit of a better serve for Alcaraz. Agassi’s advantage would be his ability to take the ball early and take time away from Alcaraz. This has been a vulnerability for Carlos in that he can make a lot of errors when rushed. There would certainly be some fireworks if they were in the same generation.

Short King is a funny expression.
Casually asking, how did it originate, and… what does it really mean?

Not much science behind this but,
Carlos seems taller than Andre or Hewitt.
Similar in height to deMinaur, or Jordan Thompson. A bit shorter than Frances T.
Guessing Carlos is 182.5 or 183 cm? Probably not as big or even as important as his wingspan.

Anyway, that was some extra-large serving from Charly this past six weeks. fun player to watch.
Strong future In tennis, overcoming the disadvantage with
technique, timing, and tactics….
Cabeza, Corazon, y cojones.

This is good. Very true.

I get it’s a comparison thing, but you’re right.

If you freaking win Wimbledon you’re a phenomenal grass player?

Are you Federer? No.

No one is Federer.

Unless you’re Federer.

But that doesn’t mean you’re not amazing on grass.

In all seriousness, Tiny is at best 5'11/181cm. He's a tiny bit shorter than 6ft ruud.
Look at this recent pic at Wimbledon.

Tiafoe is listed 6'2"

You can't say Alcaraz is a whole 3 inches shorter, can you?

Maybe tiny has grown?? Ngl he doesn't look that much shorter than 6'2 djoko recently. Maybe he's around 6' now?
Maybe shoe lifts? But he looks a whole inch taller than before.

Serve was way better, and as I said before, I'll be keeping an eye on him. Alcaraz being an inch taller, spells trouble for the
rest of the field.

Growth plates don't close till you are 21, sometimes is earlier, but what I mean is that he's not 24 and growing, so it is possible.

I was surprised when he and Frances were hugging at the end of the match, cause they looked just about the same height.

If Alcaraz has really grown an inch or so, he's gonna be unbeatable.

Olympics in a few days, he can take singles and doubles gold, I wouldn't be surprised.

Wtf are you all talking about, hes at the lower end on prime height which is 180-190cm. 185 is perfect, but anything even from 178 to 192 is good.

It wouldve been a problem if he was below 175.

Look at the height of some of the best players in history - Connors, Borg, Mac, Agassi, all around 178-180.

Laver was 170 I think and dominated tennis for years and was still competitive at 37-40

Why are all of you so insecure ffs. Have you considered loosening up on the red pill content?

So what is it about that 1 inch that makes GS winners versus players who are 5' 10" and cannot win one?
