Yes, sure they do. It’s 160M in 10 years. Nike would be making approx 2B at the minimum annually from tennis ( roughly 10% of its total profits). Alcaraz is the new poster boy of tennis. Nike pretty much assures itself the pole position in tennis gear sales for next decade esp shoes

It’s not just the sales it’s the advertising. Hours on court televised, interviews, etc all wearing the swoosh.

They do charge hefty markups on tennis gear because I don’t think their Cost of Goods Manufactured is all that high. I wouldn’t guess it’s strictly from the return from gear though, if I recall correctly that don’t sell well enough. But in my opinion tennis is one of the best ways of prime time TV advertising imo, especially these guys going consistently deep in BO5 tourneys. Think about it and how much time they spend on court collectively, how much cash would they’d have to burn to get an equal effect from 30 second commercials or something. I don’t think his contract is as lucrative, but like friggin Novak 2021 and 2023 playing every round of every slam for example is crazy. I feel like there’s a lot of value there.

These are just my thoughts though I have zero marketing credentials so if someone here does, corrections or your ideas would be nice to hear

He's not there yet to be given his own logo, but from a marketing perspective, I understand the move

Good question and I sometimes wonder myself. But I think for these big brands it’s not just important to sign Alcaraz specifically, but to have the best and most famous athletes in the world all wear their brand. It’s like a power move: “Obviously we’re the best. Don’t you see LeBron, Nadal, Ronaldo, Serena and Tom Brady all wearing our clothes?”

Nike were really stingy with giving out logos, I think they hated having to do it with Federer because he just wasn't their kind of guy. They lowered the bar/timeline a lot for Carlos because he's their kind of guy

As much as I liked Federer, Nadal definitely got the wayyyy better logo. Hopefully they do well with Alcaraz.
