I love alcaraz. My favourite player on tour. Oozes charisma. However sadly i think djokovic is his kyrptonite. Here is what worries me in thus matchup.
At wimbledon djokovic was dominating any time the wind dropped. It was when the wind got up that alcaraz turned things round. Equally yesterday the heat bothered djokovic much more than alcaraz. Once it cooled when the sun went down djokovic dominated.
Seems to me that if conditions are normal alcaraz doesnt have the game to bother novak as novak does everything a bit better. Ashe is so big its rarely wind affected. By the second week as the fall takes hold condirions are usually less hot. Djokovic the past two matches has by his standards served badly. Under 65% 1st serves both matches which for him is unusual.
Looking back alcaraz needed to stamp on djokovic while it was hot and he was ailing and finish that 2nd set 6-2.
More i think abput it i think alcaraz is going to go out early in NY. He hss looked a bit burnt out as another poster mentioned in another thread and got a feeling yesterday will have broken him mentally for this season. Still a great season for him and he is only 20. A reduced schedule after NY would be sensible. To turn things round with djokovic he has got to improve that serve and have a better shot tolerance.
Djokovic still by far the best player on tour.
