Alexander Zverev is not having the best moment of his career. After losing in the final of the Australian Open to Jannik Sinner, the German tennis player had an extremely disappointing South American tour in February on clay without any prestigious results in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.
Then he was eliminated in Acapulco and in the first match of his tournament in Indian Wells by Tallon Grieskpoor. Now he is called upon to make a quick comeback in Miami. But in recent days, in a Tennis Channel podcast in which his brother Mischa and 4-time Grand Slam champion Jim Courier were also present, he spoke specifically about world number 1 Jannik Sinner who defeated him in Melbourne.
Alexander Zverev's words on Jannik Sinner: "He did something incredible"
Alexander Zverev said during the podcast that Jannik Sinner has done something incredible lately. And he went into detail about what he believes have been the biggest improvements in Sinner's game. "There's one area where Jannik has improved so much in the last few years. It's incredible. He has a game plan every time he steps on the court with someone and I think he would rather lose with a game plan than go off his game and try to be more creative or something like that."
"I think - continued the world number 2 - that it is right to give big compliments to Darren Cahill for this. Jannik has always had the weapons. He has always had the forehand. He has always had the backhand. He has improved his serve a lot. There is no need to talk about these aspects. But Darren told him the right things, against this opponent you do this and this and you will win 80% of the time. With that one you do this and this. He has a set game plan that he brings out even more in important situations like at 5-5 in a set or in a tiebreak. He sticks to that game plan and trusts it. And I think that is where he has improved so much and where he has improved more than anyone else" concluded Zverev.
