She had several events in the Philippines. An excerpt from the article linked above:
¤¤ Her first week in Manila was as tightly scheduled as 6-6 in a hotly contested third-set tiebreak. Monday was all about Nike (a back-to-back event with the brand) and this Metro.Style interview and shoot, plus a welcome dinner at Malacañan Palace hosted by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos. Tuesday was reserved for an event with Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), while Wednesday was Globe’s “Home Court: The Alex Eala Fan Meet Experience” at the Glorietta Activity Center. ¤¤

The dress and sneakers seem an odd look. I guess they get the nike sponsor bucks...
But I think it's good for her to take a little rest and do publicity and photo shoots while her body recovers
and prepares for a big run in the hardcourts.

I didnt know much about her before , she pops up my tennis feeds very often now
She must have a huge fan following
How big is tennis in the Philippines?
basketball is still #1

Even though nearly all the ones I know play tennis, basketball is still king.

She looked good vs. Zheng. I only saw highlights, but I don't believe I saw any tape on her shoulder or thighs, so I'm hoping she's healthy and good for a US open run in a month or so!
I thought Zheng would have been warmer at the net but just a perfunctory limp handshake.

Top 10. She needs to improve that serve.

I dunno. This serve has some amazing work on it!

On the TC broadcast they had a slo-mo replay that zoomed in a bit. Just absolutely filthy stuff!!

She needs to try a page out of Mannarino's book and get way out by the sideline on her ad serves. ;)

Its about time somebody has taken the torch from Nadal.
There is no male version of Nadal today,
Eala is from the Nadal Academy so its possible she's cracked the code...
Other than being a lefty and her tenacity, I see absolutely nothing in Eala's game that resembles Nadal's.

Sorry there is one thing in her game that's similar to Nadal's.
They taught her Nadal's stalling tactics.
At 0-5, 15-40 Pegula serving final set today, Eala walked away to towel off after a two ball rally! :)

One of the most interesting players to appear in a while on either tour.

She’s tiny, has no serve, but is already one of the best ball strikers on tour and takes the ball extremely early. On return, she stands close to the service line and attacks every ball she gets.

Once again, there is no substitute for clean ball striking and taking the ball early.
She's 5'9". Same height as Steffi Graf.
Pegula is 5'7", I guess that would make her a midget?

Perhaps it is my faulty eyes, but Eala seems to have a slighter build while than most other female players, while Pegula seems to have a thick powerful build. It surprises me that Eala is able to handle the other players power.

Wow! What a great week for Eala;

Started the tournament by beating the reigning Olympic champ. Then beats Fernandez, Svitolina. I thought Osaka’s power would be too much, but Eala trounced her. Then I thought, Pegula is smart, powerful and good at mixing things up, Eala bagels her in the deciding set.

What a great ad for the Rafa Academy. :)
