That joy is infectious. Congratulations to Alex and all her fans who believe in her!

Indeed.
"The average height for adult men in the United States is 5 feet 9 inches (about 175 or 176 centimeters), according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)."

Some Statistics

Alexandra Eala became a Top 20 player after winning the Mubadala DC Open in Washington. She moved up 8 spots to a new career-high of No.20 in the WTA rankings updated after the tournament final on Monday.

Impressive ball striking and movement by Ella, congratulations. Big game, big brain and big heart in a smallish frame.

I don’t think we’re going to see an all-court attacking player on the women’s side (we don’t even see them on the men’s anymore), but an aggressive baseliner who takes the ball early is the next best thing. Some of the BHs she takes early inside the court and sends back angled into the deuce court are really beautiful to watch. The footwork to get into position to hit them is very impressive.

This is sped up a bit, but look at the footwork to get into position to take the BH early

My expectations for Eala at the US Open is a Quarter Final performance minimum which in itself is a breakthrough.

2027 or 2028 is where I think she'll become a top 10 player.

has anyone else noticed the number of views her matches in DC have gotten on the WTA YouTube channel? Highlights of the final have 1.1 million views! That must be a record for any match in the history of the WTA YouTube channel or TennisTV.

WTA(or tennis tv) highlights on average get between 20-60k views, with an uptick here or there. There were spikes with Serena/Venus matches lately(and by spikes I mean like 200k views)
These are the views for:
SF vs Osaka - 1 mill views
QF vs Svitolina - 750k views
2R vs Fernandez - 834k views
1R vs Zheng - 592k views

Also Wimbledon has been posting full matches recently on YouTube. Not surprised to see Serena-Joint get more views than uploads of the men's or women's finals(108k for Serena vs 61k for the men's final). But I was shocked to see the Eala-Swiatek match has 631k views!

I don't know if YouTube views translate to ratings, but I'm very curious to see if the USTA/ESPN puts Eala at night for her first round at USO and see how the ratings compare for Serena's first round(if she plays). Eala may move the needle in a way we haven't seen in a long time.

Love her or hate her (I don't know how anyone could) this charismatic young player is going
to be front and center for a long time on the WTA tour.
She has tremendous talent, grit and brains and will almost certainly be a very successful
and respected player by most tennis fans in the world.

This win vs. Parks really showed Eala’s competitive nature because she had all the excuses in the world for not winning, which nobody would blame her for, e.g., Washington final was delayed, she just won her big tournament beating highly ranked players, players often lose their first match after winning a title when there’s a quick turnaround, has had a quick rise to fame and millions of dollars etc., etc., but she was ready to play from the first ball against a decent opponent who has had some nice wins this year including against Eala at the AO.

This is a very positive sign.

We can all see that you are an enthusiastic Eala fan!
I am too.

May I make a suggestion/request?
Could you please ease up on the photos you post here?
Why am I asking this?

Whenever you post a bunch of photos the page goes crazy!
I'll be trying to read posts BELOW your post that contains the photos
and the page will move on me as I try to read their posts!

It's very unpleasant.

Li Na wasn’t this popular in the ”west” and she won 2 majors.

Maybe it has to do with these things;

- she comes from the only Christian country in Asia.
- Philippines is an American and British ally
- filipino diaspora, they are basically everywhere.

But damn, her fans are rowdy :D

I have never seen a page jumping when scrolling. Maybe it's a setting issue? :)

I just did a test.
I went to several threads where there were NO PHOTOS. Everything worked smoothly. The page remained static.
No jumping around.
But any thread I went to where there were lots of photos, the page went crazy, jumping around all the time.

Even in posting my reply now, I had to type it out in an app outside of TTW,
(because as I typed in TTW it would jump around) and then I pasted my reply into TTW. :(

Same issues for me. I would click on this thread more often if it didn't have so many pictures, twitter links etc. makes it a pain to scroll through. Maybe you should start a "no pictures" thread for Eala haha.

I just did a test with a second browser to see if it might be a browser issue.
Trusty Google Chrome also has the exact same issue!

We couldn't see it with Bouchard, Andreescu, Radacanu either.
Just look at the old threads here about when those three shooting stars emerged on the scene.
The point is - we don't know.
Please speak for yourself.
I never saw anything in Bouchard.
I don't think anyone here was predicting a stellar career for Raducanu, even after her slam win.
Andreescu was different. Many reasons for her stall and decline.
