Alize Cornet given code violation for changing shirt

Is this the case even if a woman is wearing nothing underneath her shirt? Or what she is wearing underneath would be "revealing" if she wasn't wearing a shirt?

Or let's just imagine an undershirt / bra that is very sweaty. For example, could Daniela Hantuchova change her shirt on court?

Again, this is the sexist world we live in-where men's nipples are seen as normal & women's as something that need to be hidden. Same thing happens on this site-men's topless pics are fine, but not women.

Can we stop pretending womens breasts are NOT a sexual organ? And that certain shapes and sizes are more desirable because of the fact that certain shapes and sizes can refer to a woman's ability to breast feed her offspring? Of course theyre sexualized. Mens breasts are redundant and dont need to be there, they are not a sex organ, so modesty is not important. Womens breasts are one of the most important features of their biology and do as a matter of fact affect the outcomes of her ability to find a mate. Modesty allows a woman to walk in public without drawing attention to or bringing about comparisons with other women. So why are we gonna pretend its anything but awkward and "sexual" for a woman to show her breasts in public? Only for women who think they are a man is this confusing. Or men who are confused about what breasts are in general. If women were to be allowed or even encouraged to go topless, then for consistency sake we will need to allow men to walk around with their testicals out. After all it is rather uncomfortable to have our testicals in our pants all day and it gets sweaty. Of course the reason we dont is for modesty's sake, but if women are allowed to bare their sex organs, men should be allowed to as well.

It's not so much the sexist world we live in as the fact that the female breast has always been eroticised in a way quite dissimilar to the treatment of the male torso.

We may be moving to a world where Zverev lifting his shirt has the same charge as Cornet taking off her top, but things aren't quite there as yet.

Rules written by middle aged males for middle aged males.

Consider for example women's volleyball uniforms and how women are pressured into wearing skimpy, tight shorts. As opposed to what they wear in men's volleyball. I suppose this is to do with "marketability".

Whereas here we have a complete non issue with Cornet getting her shirt backwards, flipping it round it for no other reason than the fact that it was back to front, and has the book thrown at her.

1. Cornet's breasts are fully covered. If you are bothered by visible shape it will be no less visible in any dress or blouse.
2. Haven't you seen German bare balls parading in the spas of every country in the world? A have, and I didn't like this sweaty ball pageant, but what can I do anout it? Spa management realizes that they cannot expose kids to this feast of anatomt because the law calls it "molestation of the minors". Guess what they did? Banished kids from their spas.
Im talking in a more broad sense, and more about bare breasts. On the topic of Cornet, clearly it was a technicality and no one was actually looking at or even thinking of her breasts. I see it as a non issue.

Nadal just took his shirt off on court after his win

And he was standing, not seated in a chair.

Should he have been disqualified?
17 years ago when he started doing it. Now it's too late. The guy cannot change his habits in his mature age, no? :)

You probably need a telephoto lens to feel sufficiently excited by the event.

Think it would be more the gay dudes into twinks getting excited over Zverev & his matchstick physique.

Was some warning issued to Micael Lodra wearing so much clothes in the tennis stadium right after his match?

Men change their tops on court all the time without code violation.

You again failed to read the rule. Men get punished for changing shorts on court.

Are you going to get outraged about that? Or is the outrage only reserved for when something slightly inconvenient happens to a millionaire female?

1. Breasts are a sexual organ. A man’s pectoral muscle isn’t.

2. I didn’t know that the whole world (especially a premier tennis event in one of the richest democratic cities in the world) is comparable to an Islamic theocracy

Breasts are not a sexual organ (they play no part in conception). The female variety simply supplies the nourishment required for a new born baby. The fact that they are a turn-on for some men just says more about them really!

What kind of man doesn’t find breasts a turn on? A gay one?
They ARE a sexual organ and women themselves portray them as such.

That’s besides the point. The rules say that a player can get changed at their chair or in a private section of the court. She didn’t. This isn’t a gendered thing.

In any case womens breasts are a sex organ. Thats just a fact... Much study has been done on the subject and it is classified as such by researchers. Theyre different from male breasts for a reason.

People like to bring up the idea of nudism a lot, and the idea that you will become used to female breasts after seeing them a bunch. I'm sure. Thats a no brainer. Youll become used to anything if you see it a lot. That doesnt degrade a female breast into a non functioning, non sex-organ male breast. It is what it is. Its not just men who view it as such, but women who portray it as such, instinctually, for thousands of years. There are certain tribes who dont seem to care about breasts at all, but I dont see them as a counter point to this, because historically humans have always covered up and worn clothes for protection, expression and modesty. Those few tribes are an exception, not the rule. It may be in their nature to go bare-- not ours. You only need to get sunburnt once to understand that. When you suggest that womens breasts are not a sexual organ and should be left to freely swing in the wind, in my opinion youre not talking about returning to nature, youre talking about devolving into our hairy ancestors. Which is fine if thats what you all want but I get the idea you all think youre smart by saying that! But maybe you are. Maybe ya'll got the right idea by pretending female breasts arent a sex organ while male balls are. If thats the case I'll interfere no further.

If you are getting this lost out in the weeds over seeing a girl in a sports bra for like, 6 seconds tops, you should go to a swimming pool, a beach, or a track and field event. It would blow your mind.

Its not really the breasts that interest me but the idiots who say illogical things. :) I mean breasts are fine, but when I notice people say things that are blatantly wrong? Thats when youll see me replying.

All of a woman’s body is a sexual organ. Burqas came thereafter.

She had a freakin' sports bra on. She clearly wasn't doing anything intentionally to excite the immature male fan base (but it clearly excited the older male fan base) and quickly fixed her top.
We see females on the beach in far less, and yet this somehow became a code violation.

Good thing that US Open came out to speak against the decision. Unfortunately the player was in the middle of a US Open match. No doubt it upset her to be called out and penalized in front of millions/billions of people.

She didn’t change on the bench, she changed on the court. It was absolutely deserving of a violation.

Do you actually think a male tennis player would have been assessed a code violation in this situation considering no hold up of play?? Let's be serious. It was because she was female.

A gay man might get turned on by a man's breasts but that still wouldn't make them a sexual organ.

They ARE a sexual organ and women themselves portray them as such.

Women may portray their legs or lips as a turn on for men. Men may do the same as a turn on for women but that doesn't make them sexual organs or organs of any kind.

That’s besides the point. The rules say that a player can get changed at their chair or in a private section of the court. She didn’t. This isn’t a gendered thing.

You're quite right about the rules but some of us think they may well be applied more vigorously to women than to men. After all, as some have already pointed out, Nadal strips off his shirt all the time after a match while he is still standing but is never warned about it.

Again, breasts are sexual organs. They aid in the production and cultivation of offspring.

False equivalence. Again, men don’t have breasts.
The correct equivalent would be numerous scenarios of male players getting warnings for changing shorts on court.

This is a non-issue. Women aren’t oppressed ffs.

Women aren't oppressed, correct.. 100% correct. And I'm a woman.
Men do have breast tissue, however. Some even get breast cancer.

Men do have breasts in the anatomical sense, so you are starting off all wrong.

Breasts are sensitive and therefore part of the sexual response system in both sexes.

Alas, if only that were true. ;)

Breasts don't have anything to do with the production of offspring, only their cultivation. They play no role in the physiology of conception which is the sole preserve of the sexual organs.

You're confusing parts of the female anatomy that many men find sexually alluring with actual sex organs. It's because of this male fetish that players like Cornet get pulled up for breaking the rules whilst Nadal is ignored.

Have you ever thought that sexuality is different for men and women? Breasts are sexual and respond heavily to sexuality.

Men are pulled up for breaking rules by changing their shorts. There’s no inconsistency here.
