Nadal plays the most physical tennis game EVER. He takes good care of himself, but he is going to break down sooner or later, more likely sooner if he keeps playing all these hard court tourneys in a row.

I couldn't agree more. Nadal just bludgeons the ball. It's fun to watch, but I don't think it's a recipe for longevity either. It will be truly amazing if he is able to maintain this pace past 25, so I'm thinking 3 more very solid years and then watch out for the injuries.

That said, nothing is certain. Perhaps he will maintain it for longer. If he does, it can only be good for tennis. Best when people have to play their best to beat the world's best.

My only hope is that others pick up their games. I can't stand streaks and domination, and would like to see a revolving door in the top-5 instead of a big gap between the top 2-3 and the rest. A few more guys need to step up.

I don't think there will be an exciting race for number1 until Nadal is well past his prime(which he hasn't reached yet). The difference between Nadal and everyone else this year is the widest margin I've ever seen on the tour.

The last time a player on French Open and Wimbledon in the same year was 1980. Is there any doubt of the margin between Nadal and others? On top of that he made the AU OPEN semi and has already won on the American hardcourt circuit and priming himself for a Gold Medal.

if he can top federer's records of less than 10 losses for a couple consecutive years, then i'd say nadal more dominant. but until then, the difference between nadal and everyone else isn't as large as federer's era.

Well, I guess anyone can make up his or her own criteria for determining the "margin" between a given player and the rest of the field.

In my book, having a winning percentage of ~95% and winning 3 or more GS, plus the Masters Cup in the same year is more dominant than winning the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year.
