All the attention is on Djokovic, whilst Nadal is ONE RG WIN away from 20 : 20 vision...

Where the head to head and slam head to head HAVE to come into play...

RG: Nadal 6 : 0
AELTC: Federer 3 : 1
AUS : Nadal 3 : 1

On clay, it's advantage Nadal
On grass it's advantage Federer
On Hard it's advantage Nadal

US Open 0 : 0...
Federer made six finals in a row and Nadal failed to attend the meeting
Since then, Nadal made five finals to Federer's one, and Federer failed to attend the meeting

Nadal needs to win one of the next three RG to make his position count and then Federer starts moving down the podium, just as Sampras did

In the meantime Djokovic could very well pass both Nadal and Federer, and that is exactly why the attention is mostly on him as of now. He is still the favourite for all the slams except for RG. And don't forget that the pressure is on Nadal now, as Djokovic is catching up quickly he has never been so close to the GS record as he is now heading to RG. It's a whole new situation and who knows how he will handle all that pressure..

I think it's been like this for a while lately, one guy wins and the other one gets a little bit overlooked. When Djokovic won Wimbledon there wasn't much talk about Nadal, but when he won US Open and finished the year as number 1, the attention switched to him. Now Djokovic won in Australia...

Advantage Nadal at the moment. He is closer and, while Djokovic may still be the favorite at more Slams, Nadal at RG is the safest bet.

Ok and since W18 Djokovic has won 5 of 7 and Nadal 2 of 7. Both can be true... There's no reason to discredit the run Djokovic is on at slams.
OK and since RG 2005, Nadal has won 19 Slams and Djokovic 17. And since RG 2017, Nadal has won 5 Slams. Anda sincero RG 2019, Nadal has won 2 of the last 4 Slams, the same than Djokovic. There is no reason to consider that a run alleatory starts at WB 2018, rather than at RG 2005, RG 2017 or RG 2019.

No amount of spin will change reality. Djoker is the fav everywhere except RG. Nadal has his work cut out for him if Djoker stays healthy.

Djokovic is no more favorite for the US Open than Nadal to me. Nadal has more US Open titles than Djokovic and leads the H2H over him there.

What about Davydenko? He was 6 times better on HC than Nadal?

Sure there is. It shows that recently Djokovic has been very good at winning slams which suggests that it's likely that he will be able to continue to do so. Just because Djokovic is on a better run than Nadal right now doesn't mean he's greater or anything it just means that recently he's been the best which suggests he may continue to be. The fact that Borg has won 0 of the last 100 slams suggest it's unlikely he wins RG this year. Nothing against Borg but recent patterns suggest he's not winning RG.

Without the wasted time from October 2016 to July 2018, Djokovic himself would have been recognized as tennis king by Federer hardliners.
He would still have 17 slams.

The only advantage Federer has is his previous birth and the illnesses of his two competitors.
Every tennis fan really knows that. He is the clear number 3 for this very reason.
The results rarely deceive, but in this case they do.
He is number 3. Time until 2024 will show whether Djokovic or Nadal are 1.

Add US Open and AO and then it's 11> 5 Djokovic. Djokovic is ahead of Nadal on 2/3 surfaces. Hard and grass.

H2H is 3-2 Hard and 2-1 Grass at Slams.

Rafa is and will be forever the King of Clay. And a little more, because he has two Wimbledons.

Federer is a Christian so he does not believe in reincarnation. He can convert to Hinduism if he likes.

Joker just won the most recent slem, so of course he's going to get all the buzz. After RAFA won the USO, the RAFANS were celebrating that dub for months! And it was awesome

Also, RG is over 3 months away, once clay season hits RAFA will get his turn in the limelight.

Federer will still have more titles at 3 slams out of 4.

H2H matter but the distribution of results matters too.

On Hard it's advantage Nadal? Back to the h2h s**t?

Is Davydenko still a better hard court player than Nadal? 6-1 on HC and 2 games away from 7-0.

Davydenko >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Nadal on HC

This argument would apply if Davydenko had 19 slams or even 10 slams for that matter or even 1 hard court slam. A random losing h2h doesn't mean anything.

Nadal was so lucky last RG. Including Sunday, he played 2 out of last 5 days, while Thiem had to play 4 straight days. And yet Thiem managed to win 1 set. With the roof, no such luck for Rafa, and bad luck for his opponent in 2020!

Nadal is a lucky 12 RG champion!
:D

He was lucky LAST YEAR! I'm just asking an equal chance: both RG finalists get Saturday off in 2020!
It will be much fairer now. As they have roof and lights. Plus they changing the scheduling too as all quarter finals will be played on main court. They will be night matches too. Therefore, weather will finally not ruin the tournament

Switzerland?

Real neutral is not a case of looking the other way, but looking whilst not being driven in to the emotional bind of the 'story'

The one who eventually gets the record is the one closest to real neutral about the outcome

Not a case of who wants it the most because the tripping scales towards yearning and blowing out are very close to the wanting energies

It's going to take something out of this world for Djokovic to take 3 sets off Nadal in the finals of Roland Garros on Phillip Chatrier!
Last time they met on clay was Rome finals 2019. That didn't go too well for Djokovic. And the worst thing was that he was in near god-form that season with tremendous confidence against Nadal, and having won Madrid Masters only 2 weeks earlier. All the momentum was on Djoker's side and he still got bludgeoned by a sub-par Nadal on clay.

LOL, Nadal detractors should not be butthurt by Nadal winning RG. That is so ridiculous as Nadal fans being bothered by Djokovic winning the AO and being supposedly lucky winning it. The reality is that Nadal is always the absolute favorite to win RG, and so he is expected to win it, just like Djokovic is the absolute favorite to win the AO and so is expected to win it. What luck are you talking about? Nadal has previously destroyed Thiem at RG 2017 and RG 2018. RG 2019 was just part of a pattern where Nadal defeats Thiem at RG. In effect, Nadal dominates Thiem 4-0 in RG meetings. Nadal would have defeated Thiem at RG 2019 with or without roof, he was playing too good for Dominic. Winning one set is not a synonym with having chances to win the match.

Nadal is 12/12 in RG finals because he is the best clay player ever, not by luck.

I really think these heaux's forget Nadal has STILL to this day only lost 2 BO5's in his entire life on clay.

If Djokovic even faces Stan he can forget it.

What Rome 2019 event were you watching? He only won the quarter finals against Del Potro because Del Potro choked massively on MP. Novak should have lost there and then, the following day the other Argentine player takes Djokovic to three sets also. That is hardly a near God form from Novak. The guy should have been sent packing in the quarters.

Wasn't a choke. Del Potro lost because he's supposed to lose. Can't blame everything to a choke. Djokovic is just the better player.
Also, if they meet in the RG final this year, Novak will need to play in god form because Nadal's B level is good enough to wipe the court with anyone. And nadal always raises his game for the RG finals.

If you joined the board this year and were new to tennis, you would swear Nadal sucked on Chatrier. Pathetic. The last 2 HARDCOURT slams are Djokovic 1, Nadal 1 and they are out here being cocky when they are lucky Thiem choked due to actually being tired from a decent draw.

Are you kidding me? The ball was on Del Potro's racket, he could have hit the forehand anywhere in the court and he would have won, but he launches the ball into the air. As much as I was relieved that Novak pulled through, he wasn't the better player, he was at the mercy of a massive miss from Del Potro there.

A few years ago, clay tournaments weren't so popular and nobody cared who won them. This created pure specialists in this niche.
Mostly from countries where Spanish is spoken. Only through the hype of the past 20 years did it become a duty to have won RG at least once.
It is uncomfortable to have to win there. But I'm still not sure if it shows the class of a tennis player.

McEnroe > Nadal. Without Roland Garros. And I like Nadal more than the most other players.
Numbers are deceiving, sometimes impressions and feelings count more.

SOMETIMES...

And yet a year later Imhotep is guaranteed a calendar slam
