Holmes: What with the enjoyment this thread has brought to many, along with my reluctance to see it fade away, how about another quiz?

Re. Sir Nadal (yes, I'll continue to call him 'Sir Nadal' regardless of other comments made), Wimbledon 2010:

The answer: at least 1,416

The question..........?

Number of points won?

Average of 4 points/game, 9 games/set, 4 sets/match...

Just a guess.

Are there any rear end inserted performance injections? After getting an inject is it itchy? Do people tend to scratch and pick at the injection area?

We have yet to see any photographic evidence of the same, although verbal reports exist, along with reports of Loch Ness and Bigfoot sights. Some video footage has been submitted (see Exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4jUGufaJek and also Exhibit B1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT9iAo52xGc&NR=1) but the authenticity of these has yet to be verified. We have currently filed these along with footage of UFO's and Gray Aliens.

1416 number of english words the entire nadal clan knows.
[every single response nadal gives when asked about his next opponent and his strategy against them.]

"He a very good player. Thank you very much, I goo-nna try my best." - Nadal

Nadal's English is not the best. His Spanish is very good, however, and in his Spanish interviews he appears as an insightful, intelligent, and charming character. Something that you can never do in any language. :)

Rafael Nadal
R. NADAL/P. Mathieu
6-4, 6-2, 6-2

THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.

Q. Is it fair to describe that performance as your best of the tournament so far from your point of view?
RAFAEL NADAL: I didn't understand.

Q. Did you have any problems from your knee? If not, what did you do after the last game to make sure it was good for today?
RAFAEL NADAL: I tried my best, no? I take antiinflammatories. I did a lot of treatment with the physio, with the doctor.

Q. Prior to the match, it was announced that you were fined $2,000. What is your reaction to that?

RAFAEL NADAL: What is that?

Q. Excuse me. But are you concerned going forward that they're just gonna continue to get sore or sorer?
RAFAEL NADAL: I don't have the control of my knees. I don't know what's gonna happen, no? I try my best to be ready. I tried my best after the last match to be fit for today. I did well.
Gonna be the same for after tomorrow. We will see what's happen. I am here to try my best even with pain on the knees or without pain of the knees. I gonna try my best in all the conditions.

I remember there was this one instance in an interview where he said "I don't know how to say this in Spanish."

So Spanish is not even his first language. Mallorcan (Catalan dialect) is!

Really no need to criticize Nadal's English. He says enough to get by in an interview and that's all that matters. For example, look at Murray's interviews - "yeh I think if I play my best tennis I'll have a good chance to win..." Repeat the same old trite - interview over - job done!

Are you ********? I am not under 18, but that doesn't change a damn thing. That is an extremely inappropriate comment regardless of my age. You sound like a pathetic loser. Nice username btw, I'm sure Fed will be happy to know, he has a moron fan like you that probably jacks off to him every night. Creep!
Fed has the fans he deserves, no? :???:

Fair enough,

and nadal's english has improved compared to 2 years ago.
with fantastic interviews like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZT9v7cEiJiQ

the usual moronic interview with the classic "how will you play him? what are your tactics?" question, which has a 99.9% chance of being dismissed by the usual "be aggressive, just play my game, not worry about opponent's game" space-filler.

you could probably count on one hand the number of times in the entire history of tennis that a player has actually revealed a specific tactic in response to such a question.

I agree. I mean who would want to publicly reveal their tactic before a match? That's crazy. Rafa said once that he couldn't reveal it in detail. I can't believe they still ask questions like that!

Absolutely agree! Well the interviewers ask stupid questions anyway. It seems it's always limited to, "so how do you plan on beating him?", "how are you feeling right now"(this is fine if you just won, but if you just lost it's like doh!), the same old injury question.

you guys are no fun at all.

What i want to know is what is the deep subconcious meaning behind nadal's constant obsessive reminder to english audience that "he try heee's best". What a tortured soul he must be. What horrid childhood trauma did nadal undergo to have to desperately remind english people he's trying his best?

I hate it when threads get off topic, can we please get back to the original topic and the quiz.

Watson: It isn't points won I'm afriad. Post 86 in this thread gives you a cryptic clue if you want to figure it out yourself, and post 94 shows the winner of the quiz..... Hope you're not too disappointed ;)

Holmes: No need to feel like a tool ProgressoR! It is a bit of light hearted fun, but is also calculated to be correct (as regards official serves). Actually, as it happens, we had to apologize as the entire question should have been, "At least how many times did he...". You see, Sir Nadal served a total of 708 times officially in Wimbledon (combined 1st and 2nd serves). However, he would have had a pick at his behind more than 708 times, as this figure did not include the let cords and service faults.

Watson: Neither Holmes or I anticipated the hijack of the thread for avatar purposes, but we weren't upset by it as the whole point was to make one and all smile. Unfortunately, B.U.D. and a few others didn't see it that way. Oh well ;)
