He will beat Novak man. he will beat anyone in front of him.

Why does everyone act like injuries can't heal?

With this fighting spirit and especially this FOREHAND he isn't losing again .

We saw how Novak recovered from a tear. This is just a strain. Nadal will be as good as new.

(assuming the injury was legit)

DelPo with a carbon fibre wrist was able to force a hobbled Nadal into quitting by simply not folding. Shapo, and Fritzy need to take some notes.

Sadly, I have to agree. Had Sinner beaten Djokovic (not that he ever was close to doing that) then there would be a reason to fight. But now he has no chance to win anyway, and by playing he takes a big risk making the injury worse. It will be so sad if he will skip USO for the third year in a row because he decided to keep playing here.

...only to get destroyed by Novak in the final. Assuming he even makes it there, which doesn't seem very likely right now.

Should he have quit to try to recover for USO?
I agree with you, when his whole family was telling him to retire, it made no sense to continue. He can't win the whole thing like this. Almost impossible. He is quite likely to suffer a big defeat.

And he has probably aggravated his injury and once this wimbledon is over, Nadal may be out for a couple of months. So he is just pushing his body and luck.

Im glad he played and even rooted for Nadal. Djokovic need to extend his H2H against Nadal because lately they only met on clay :)

I know, I just mean, this should end the argument once and for all, if this is what happens, and Nadal turns up injured and battered for an execution.

I never ever felt that Nadal ducked Djokovic, he is a champion, he stepped up each time to take his losses.
It's crazy how many people strongly believe that the most incredible champions of our sport are weaklings, it just makes no sense

Tbf Nadal amped up his FH by a lot. I mean he was crushing the FHDTL and was hitting the FHCC quite deep. Nadal escaped because Fritz didnt go DTL with his BH and engaged in CC rallies which Novak will never do. It was clear Nadal was not able to hit the BH. I feel sad because today’s FH coupled with the BH that he showed against Botic would actually give him very good chance of winning. Lets see if his abdomen heals and he gets back his BH and hope his FH stays the same level

I wish he would’ve lost early on tbh. He’s semi retired and needs to save his body for tournaments he can actually win.

he won’t beat Djoko outside clay, and probably not even on clay anyway. However Djoko might decide not to play USO this year so Nadal has got a shot at winning it.

better to aim for that

Truth is, there is one guy right now who is super confident he can take Nadal. And Djokovic. On grass. He has beaten them both. Good and proper. His name.

Kyriakos

I don’t understand what people want. Isn’t this why we want out of our athletes? To compete and compete and compete even when winning seems unlikely? This is the attitude people keep demanding from the NextGen yet when nadal shows heart over and over again they think he should lose to preserve a H2H?

It’s bizarre. The Big 3 are winners for a reason. There is no quit in these guys.

As CYGS is on, plus at 36 this could be his last chance to win Wimbledon, he went the extra mile.

Otherwise he would’ve conserved himself for US Open.

His inability to hold serve is why this match went for so long.

Who knows Nick could succumb to the occasion and self implode?

Norrie could pull off the upset of all time?

So in that sense the pain was probably worth it
