Alpha string pal stringer?

Newberry

Rookie
Looking to purchase my first string machine soon...
I've been considering the ATS SS II, or the Gamma X-2 (X-2 comes with more free string right now)
I spotted this one on e-bay and it looks pretty decent.
Item number: 8731770681
Anyone used it? Are those metal clamps?
Thanks for any info:

"This is a "new in the box" Alpha String Pal stringing machine. This is Alpha's newest dropweight machine. It features a linear gripper that is attached to the drum and a two-point mounting system. Comes with 2 midsize flying clamps, tools, extra mounting pads. I would compare this machine to any 2-point dropweight system on the market"

Does this machine have a ratcheting system? Some posters feel like this is a crucial part of any good dropweight machine. Other than that, I wouldnt hesitate to buy anything from Alpha. I haven't seen any negative posts about their machines here.

For a first machine, I would recommend the Klippermate, there are tons of great references and very high quality for the $$$$, great service as well

I would be 99% sure that it has a clutch spring so you can raise the bar during tension pull without completely re-pulling the string.

Thank you for your reply Gamma Tech.
I checked on the specs for the machine, asking the seller if it has a ratchet and his reply was:
"The clamps are plastic with metal inserts. It does not have a ratchet clicker, but it does have an internal clutch spring."

I went by our local high school this AM, and took a look at their machine, a Gamma Progression II 602 (flying clamps). I saw how the ratched mechanism worked on that machine. Is the internal clutch spring a better option?
Thanks for your help.

Any feedback on Alpha String Pal?

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the Alpha String Pal. The flying clamps are the same ones sold at TW.
