Alternative for Liquidmetal Instinct Tour XL

I'm currently using Liquidmetal Instinct tour xl strung with Babolat PHT @ 58 mains and Babolat addiction @ 60 crosses. I'm looking for an alternative since this racket is discontinued and I only have one racket.

I'm looking at either the Babolat Pure Drive Roddick and the new Pure drive roddick GT. I know the weight is similar around 11.7-11.8oz and both have 16x19 pattern. From looking at the pure drive roddick looks like a good alternative for the LM Instinct tour xl, but I'm worried about the stiffness.

I know that LM Instinct tour xl has stiffness of 65 and Pure Drives around 71, but will the difference be big enough to damage my elbow. Since I use poly in current racket and never had any elbow or arm pain, will using a multi in the mains for pure drives help? Also is there a big difference in power because pure drive roddick is known to be very powerful but so are the Instinct Tours.

Definitely try out the Pure drive Roddick cortex or new one coming soon. I know how you feel though, the Instinct tour xl is such a good racquet. I put a leather grip on that stick with some tourna and it is so sweet.

dan im using the same racket stock with a leather grip did you know that you can get new ones on e b a j for 99 shipped only in 5/8 grip though !

good luck the swede

Not really the racket I had in mind but thanks. Anyone else who have played with Instinct Tour and Pure drive Roddick before?

if you like this racket you should buy multiple frames and put them in rotation theres no need to buy into the newer racket hype . All the racket makers want us to drop the money on the latest whatever technology they invent , but everyone here knows that even the pros dont change rackets once they find someting the like .

as far as comparing the instinct xl with the pure drive my opionion is that the pure drive is to light and to stiff , i have played with full luxilon alu power setup in the high 50s with no arm or shoulder issues.

the instinct tour xl also is not as powerful as the pure drive you have to swing fast to get the desired pop for putaways and the serving both first and second are big .

listen if this racket is good enough for a top ten player like richard gasquet then its good for 4.0 and upwards player. put your money on a good string and good tennis shoes instead.. thats my 2c

regards t-swede
