Am I the only one who's curious about why Federer and Iga haven't said anything to congratulate Nadal?

I'm just confused. As everybody knows, Iga is the biggest fan of Rafa. And Roger is also one of good friends of Rafa, when Rafa got his 20th Slam in 2020 RG and his 21st Slam in AO this year, Roger always posted his congratulations to Rafa immediately on Instagram. But right now, it's been past for 12 hours, and they didn't post anything. It makes me feel confused.

I'm just a huge Rafan. I'm a little bit worried about their friendships. Maybe I'm over concerned.

Let it go. They aren’t obligated to say anything and more than likely have done it privately
Yeah of course I know they don't have any obligation to post such things. But I'm just concerned about why Roger posted publicly in the last two times, but today he has not. I cannot find a reasonable explanation in my mind.

Could be anything. We don't know what goes on in his private life.

I thought I saw another thread claiming that Roger and Rafa had a bromantic press conference scheduled after the match but that seemingly was just a TTW hoax to raise the anxiety levels of the warehouse fans. Now comes the issue of not congratulating.
I'm just confused
I wonder how we get confused

Why you need to be concerned ? They're big boys/girls now, they can handle themselves without you. You have to learn to let the kids go after a certain age. Promise me you won't scold them for this.
As for a reasonable explanation, how about.... They just don't feel like it. It's not like Federer did it for every other 21 Slams that Nadal won either, it's just the last 2 :laughing:They don't need to post publicly if they don't want to, and there's a way to congratulate privately also if you didn't know that.

I am amazed that Nadal doesn’t get tired or bored of winning another RG. I can’t even have the same avatar for more than a week. I just find it so boring to do the same old thing over and over again. It’s just so not creative.

I think it has to do w noting a clearly historic moment :

When Rafa joined him at 20 for most ever. When Rafa passed him for 21.

Those were the only times and it’s because they’re threshold crossers and relevant to his records.

He did the same thing - though not as warmly - when Novak got 20. He congratulated him on Twitter.

It’s not an issue w Rafa. They are friends.

Just not a threshold breaker win so … not as relevant.

They have access to Nadal that does not go through social media.

hmmm, maybe it sounds reasonable.

Maybe as the former Tennis King and a long time GOAT, Federer it's not like the chanting style?

unlike Wawrinka (He posted “”), David Ferrer, F. Lopez, Carlos Alcaraz, Juan Carlos Ferrero...maybe they don't have some kind of burden to feel free to chant and congrat.

- they have a life and things to do
- they don't have to congratulate him publicly absolutely every time he wins a slam, it would get old fast
- their friendship with Nadal isn't only defined by what they say publicly
- if anything, Federer has been a little too congratulatory in the past
- Federer has someone who manages his social media accounts for him so I'm not even sure he's the one who decides when to congratulate someone publicly

They KNOW RAFA well, probably knows rafa values a personal and private note more than the public showing. Rafa might have even asked them to keep it on downlow to avoid the eastern-european cheater-brigade off their backs.

Both 20 and 21 are milestones. One of catching Most grandslams and the second one of crossing him.

In between he also congratulated Novak on 20th slam though not so heartily.

Now no need..

What's really important when someone's achieved some form of notable success is to try and make the moment about yourself.

Once a year, does not hurt.

I think Borg should congratulate him on doubling his Grand Slam titles (22 to 11 now).
:D

Congratulated him personally, most likely. Roger already sent a congratulatory tweet when Rafa broke the Slam record. Doing it again for the world to see is not necessary if he can just message or call Rafa.

Why will they publish their congratulatory messages ? They could have done it via a text message privately

people saying Fed is being a sore loser are just stupid. The slam race is over, Fed lost. You supposed to write out a long, heartfelt congratulations every time Nadal wins another slam? Come on. This wasn't even a significant moment like tying or one upping someone. Nadal is now up by two.

Iga hasn't publicly congratulated Rafa because she's a faithful reader of the TTW forum and she sees that whenever she says something nice about Rafa, TTW bitches and moans and calls her cringe. So she decided to leave it alone this time.

I can make your life easier by congratulating Nadal on their behalf.

'Congrats Rafa for beating the Rudd mug. And also congrats on your 140 RG titles. Yu da best, no!'

i bet novvax text him a warm heartfelt message.
Doubtful. After their match, he gave him a cold handshake, Nadal expected him to go for a hug as usual and got ready for it but he just left. He’s mad at him for some reason.

Swiatek is too busy being like this:

and too emotional to be on social media. Federer was in Paris, right? Probably on some kind of business. Busy man.

The sad state of a world where if someone hasn't publically shared their thoughts on social media people act as if something dramatic is afoot.
