An interesting stat regarding Djokovic and Federer H2H.

Up until the Dubai open 2011 Federer was the favourite to win in all but 1 of their matches. The 2008 Monte Carlo semi final was a bookies tie. So basically Federer was the favourite to win in 20 of their first career meetings and a tie in 1.

However starting from Indian Wells 2011 Novak has been the favourite in every single match the 2 have played. That's actually 23 in total.

In contrast the Nadal/Djokovic rivalry is nothing like this. Djokovic was the favourite in only their 9th match together and he currently only has a 7 match "favourite streak" over Nadal.

What do you make of this?

Novak got better and Roger declined. Has probably more to do with Feds sudden 2010 losses vs Hewitt, Soderling, Berdychx2, Davydenko etc than his H2H vs Novak.

How are the bookmakers' betting odds a basis for a discussion about their H2H? They have an angle, and want to dupe the consumer, just like casinos. Blackjack v. roulette: who ya got?

Yes, I'm always surprised when someone purports to base player analysis, especially involving GOAT-level titans, on what bookies or bettors do. Who cares?

Yeah, I didn't mean to suggest that it's completely and utterly baseless... but it doesn't take into account the majority of the things that even a casual observer can pick up, let alone a serious tennis fan.
