an XTP question.

Penguin..lots of variables on how much to shave down so the next smaller cap can be installed for the no build up feel.but generally its about .4 of a millimeter the cap wall is 1 millimeters thick so shave it down on all 8 sides of your handel .4 millimeter. Then the next smaller size cap can go on usally and give an very same size Xtension with the XTP butt cap. Now not all racquets or paddles have pallets some are just hollow and not a good idea to shave down a hollow handels much.but many customizer users are modifying and getting an easy way of Xtending racquets half an inch with XTP. Thx.customizer.

Hey John. Is it possible to somehow add plastic or similar to the inside of the xtp buttcap by 0.6cm so that it equates to 0.25inch when extended? Love the xtp buttcaps, but wish they came in 0.25 as well ! I have also gone down the path of shaving / sanding the hair pin before installation, works too but want to avoid this method.

Any retail buttcaps out there that are longer naturally ?

Most users of the XTP tennis butt cap do feel a slight build up were the clap slides over the bottom portion on handle, and some users are slightly shaving that section befor installing the next size smaller, thus getting a 0 build up feel.
But most times not very noticable.
When installing remember the,
"HeatFit" process of heating cap to 155 degrees before installation is key,the cap expands and softens allowing it to conform to different octagonal shapes grips, and you can just pop the cap in your oven at 155 degrees or a heat gun if you have that. Then a small amount of FLEXIBLE rubber cement and can restaple if necessary.

It'd be nice if you could edit this to say Fahrenheit. I know you clarify later in the thread, but some fool might not read that far and melt the thing in the oven ;)

It’s funny how one poster said to remove the weights in a retail racquet. This virtually impossible.

Also, I have yet to find a non-air stapler / staples that will penetrate the grip handle effectively.

It really depends on the brand. Well, it depends on whether it is a HEAD racquet or not. All others nearly can be palleted or the lead removed.
HEAD bakes their weights right in to their hairpin. Not impossible to remove, but rather invasive if done.

A have an electric staple gun that works just fine. It's rather loud, still. I also do have a pneumatic one, but that is literally deafening for indoor use.

Having said it, the XTP IS rather heavy, so definitely sumfin to consider.

Rob @Customiser - ever thought of mebbe a staple only version so it can be shorter and lighter. ANd while we're at it, mebbe round off the edges at the bottom, WIlson style?
