Well, I went upstairs to string a couple of frames and it's happened. The Mighty Sensor is dead. It wouldn't power up. I am now officially in the market for a new machine. The bad thing is going to be renting a crane to get the Sensor downstairs or should I just let gravity take its course?

Oh, sorry to hear that, my good Sir.
hope you get to pick another one hits as good as the Bab.
I am sure other will come along soon enough for their suggestions and/or connections.

@Rabbit , I am interested in seeing what you get next. Just for moral support I did watch a youtube vid on how to crane a piano out of a second floor window. How did you get it upstairs?:)

Oh how the Mighty hath fallen. Bummer man. Too bad it's not something silly, like the time I thought my wireless speaker had shat the bed, but turned out the outlet was wired to a light switch.

Get a new/refurbed tension unit, and you'll be up and running. Cheaper than buying a new machine

If there is no power, did you check to see if it may be a bad surge suppressor that it is plugged into? Possibly there may be a fuse somewhere in the unit. I would look at the electronics and see if you can find a fuse somewhere along the power lines, or possibly a thermal fuse in the line, and if is a thermal fuse, you just need a wire to jump across to see if that is what is blown, may also be a blown transformer, or a blown capacitor. Capacitors do fail over time, and is a relatively common electric part that fails,
. Capacitors some look like a small coffee can shape item, and when they look swollen, then it is the blown one, usually the first one in the line gets the hit and fails.. Hopefully you can fix, or possibly you can send tension mechanism to tennis machines? Or call tennis machines and ask where you can start looking, as if you can narrow down the part, possibly they can just send you a replacement part. They may have an idea of what parts would fail over time to cut the power out. May be worth a try even to just swap a few parts to see if it takes care of it.
Sorry to hear about this!
I remember when you got it, as it doesn't seem all that long ago.
The Sensor is a great machine.
I wish I had that one! (Working of course)

Most likely a fuse, or capacitor, or transformer, in that order.

BTW, if you have to move it down stairs, I would disassemble it in 3 section, the tension unit, the table, and the stand, to make moving it more feasible.

She may not be dead yet as @jim e mentioned. If the system does not even power up, I would check thru the power supply chain of devices starting from outlet to the back of the machine. A fuse or breaker may have popped.

You could also contact @Babolat Official for a checklist or Tennis Machines.

After checking all that and it's truly dead, is there any way you can unbolt the tension head and make a mount for a Wise? The Babolat has such a sturdy mounting system, so can you possibly salvage that? Good luck.

Are you sure it's dead? Have you changed both fuses? Do this first! My condolences.

Are you sure that you just haven’t blown the fuse? I used to go through fuses when I owned mine… Babolat sent me about 25 fuses for free… When I sold it, I made sure to give to the new owner…

I am going to reach out to Babolat Monday. Can you tell me how to remove the cover and where the fuses are? Keep in mind that I'm not all that mechanically inclined :). I think it may be something minor, but am preparing myself for <gasp> the worst.

I had to go to my buddy's shop and use his NEOS to string my sticks. Imagine that, a lockout!!!! :) :)

Think I'd just leave it there and sell the house...

You know, I think that is the best idea of all. I could tell the potential buyers it was a sculpture. If I have to remove it, I'm going to enlist the help of two stout, young lads here in the neighborhood. I took it upstairs with some help, but my knees were somewhat suspect.

@Irvin - how much do you want? I'll even drive over and pick it up. :)

Lockouts are even worse than eCP! GASP!

He laughed at me getting reacquainted with the NEOS. I had to move the handle from the left to the right as I am a leftie. And then I adjusted my stance toward the machine. I am playing today. I hope I can play ok. I did forget to adjust the tension back up to 56 on the 2nd racket. (OH NO!). So it's at 52 mains and crosses.

I looked back though to a simpler time when I had a 1000 and a Wise..... It was nostalgic....

Pending the success of my work on the Mighty Sensor, I've narrowed down my replacement strategy to the Alpha Ghost II, Prince 7000, or Tourna 700es. @Irvin 's videos have convinced me it's a nice machine.

Tourna has a precision 800 model now with motor stand for elevation. I would see if they can put the press down clamps on that model. I believe your friend Irvin knows someone who can get you a deal on the Tourna.

Manual is available at GSS.
[1] Need to remove rack from machine. Turn off machine and remove all power connections.
[2] Loosen the 2 fixing screws by 2 turns using the size-4 allen key.
[3] Pull the rack out using handle and place on table.
[4] Fuses are near the power socket on the underside of the rack. Use flat screwdriver to remove. Fuses are HPC 5x20mm rated at 1.25 A assuming 100-120 V. Replace both, not singley.

This is essentially how I scored my wife's treadmill. My buddy went to his new house after closing, and was surprised to see the seller had just left behind the commercial grade Precor treadmill, which his wife wanted out ASAP. Felt like we were going to blow out a quad just moving it to their shed, and that was after partially dissembling it.

Google "troubleshooting babolat sensor stringing machine" and it should be item 1 or 2. I hope she can be revived. If not, we can have a moment of silence.

Sorry to hear about your Sensor. Now about your new problem. What do you intend to do with all the free time you have now that you using a lockout and not waiting for it to boot up or fiddling with buttons or wondering why your ECP isn't working? Are you going to practice tennis? It's what I do with all my free time using a lockout. I highly suggest it.

And there was joy in the kingdom!

Thanks to all who sent me help. I also found a video on YouTube which showed pulling the "rack" from the machine. Two turns of two hex screws and it's out. A small flat head screwdriver and I extracted the fuse container. A trip to Lowe's and a brief consult with the electrical guy....all they had were 2A X 250V and Babolat calls for a 1.5A X 250V. He said it wouldn't hurt the machine. So, I came home put them in and yes indeedy doody the Mighty Sensor is once again Mighty!!!!!!

Thanks again to all who chimed in.

That's awesome, but now that you know it works, I'd find the correct fuse and hold off using the machine until then. By using a higher amp fuse, you're eliminating some of the protection that the fuse provides, as now it will require that much more of a surge for it to blow. Going a little smaller is generally okay, except it may trigger the fuse to blow prematurely.

Dr. Frankenstein, "She's Alive! This calls for a drink!"
Igor, "What should I do with this head from Mister Wise?"
.....
Igor, "This fuse you put in, Master. Your notes says 1.25A for 100-120 V. And 0.63 A for 200-240 V."
Dr. Frankenstein, "You're right, Igor. Let's put the right one in."
...end of the tale...

That's exactly what I was thinking.
Don't go creating a bigger problem than the one you solved!
I just knew it had to be something fixable.

The Sensor takes a 1.5 A 250 V Ceramic fuse. I've ordered some 1.5A 250V fuses. Still on the hunt for a ceramic version.

Ceramic eh?
You probably have to go somewhere in France to find 'em. :-D:-D
Best to pack your beret and cigarette holder... you know, so you don't stand out as a visitor.

Also, during your quest, try to remember that it's pronounced "Babolah", not "Babalot", lest you will instantly be recognized as an interloper.

If you can, postpone your trip until the summer of 2024. I hear there's some big sporting event going on then.
At minimum, wait until May of next year, so you can catch some of the action at RG.
After all, you don't need to string any racquets before next May anyway, right? ;)

Wasn't that an elective class back in college?

Well, in two weeks, I can probably open a fuse store. I found the aforementioned 1.5 A 250 V ceramic fuses. I had already jumped on some other fuses before I read the fine print in the manual. I now know more about fuses than I ever wanted.

As with grommets, buy more than 1 pair. You never know when you might need to replace them again. Which brings up this subject. What caused this blowout? It may be worthwhile to invest in a surge protector or a fused line with a slightly smaller capacity fuse just for your Sensor.

Hi. I have a surge protector that it’s plugged into. We had some really bad weather and the upstairs AC had a capacitor blow. Plus I kinda wonder if those were the original fuses. I am going to purchase a UPS for it. That should help condition the power.

UPDATE: and I just ordered a UPS to replace the surge protector.
UPDATE: and I just told my first customer that rates have gone up $5.

That sucks. Can you just push it out a window and save the time and potential wall damage?

Edit: Post-reading down the remainder of the thread, congrats on getting it up and running again.

Always nice to revive quality products.
I was really looking forward to the out the window youtube video :)

The question you should be asking now is, what's next for this aging behemoth? My guess is limit switches or motor brushes. Keep fingers crossed for a few months of flawless operation.

I remember in a post on these boards a while back, someone had a Babolat machine where the motor died, and found out that the manufacturer used an automobile windshield wiper motor, replaced his with that and worked fine, so motor should be no issue. I don't remember what make or model wiper motor used, but picture was shown and looked just like original.
