ANDRE AGASSI has revealed what sets Roger Federer apart from the rest.

Roger Federer makes things look easy according to Andre Agassi
Federer is back at the top of his game, winning two Grand Slams in 2017 and is back at No 2 in the ATP rankings.

It was a miraculous turn around for the 36-year-old with the Australian Open success in January coming five years after his last Grand Slam title.

And Agassi says things are easy for the Swiss maestro - because of his style of play and finesse on the court.

“Federer is unique,” Agassi said recently in an interview with Le Matin.

“In everything: greatness, precision, easiness. He plays tennis in a different way than others.

"When I say easiness, don't misunderstand me: it's not easy.

“But it seems Federer controls everything, has a solution for any issue.

“With so many options, he has the power to avoid the physical intimidation that many current players use.

“He knows that he can play elegantly, smartly, handle his efforts, take his time to get his injuries healed, learn new things and keep investing in his progresses. "

Kinda said nothing.
But Andre has waxed eloquent in the past about Roger:

"Roger is the best I've ever played against. There's nowhere to go. Roger makes you play on the edge. You need to play the craziest tennis you've ever played. Pete Sampras was great. I mean, no question. But there was a place to get to with Pete, you knew what you had to do. If you did it, it could be on your terms. There's no such place like that with Roger."

All the above snide posts are absolutely stupid and immature. Agassi gets asked a r-e-a-l-l-y dumb question by someone named Bruce
Archer (I don't know of him and don't care who Archer is), in order for Archer to make some money $$$$ for an article. Nothing in it for Agassi
I bet, just Archer quoting a past great tennis player on the subject of Federer.

You people get snide about Agassi comment, amazing!!! Since the answer is already widely known (to those of you above) to this asinine question. Why not get pissed and snide about the individual who asked the question? I am surprised at Agassi, he has obviously mellowed with age. Surprised Agassi didn't tell Archer to pound sand or F O with your stupid question!

Or were those of you above, hoping, Agassi would have some earth shattering new insight, an enlightenment into the Federer Legend?

I just think 1999 Agassi = 2017 Nadal. Wasn't meant to be an insult but an interesting parallel.

Roger plays the part of 1999 Sampras, who defeated Agassi in the biggest matches yet Agassi ended the year at No. 1, while Sampras ended the year at 3 but with Wimbledon under his belt. Agassi won the FO + USO that same year, exact same majors Nadal won too.

I don't know if Agassi really believes that he could never have got to Federer prime for prime at Australian open or French open (possibly even USO) He might just be saying this kind of stuff to hype the game and Federer up.

Be quiet man.
Dre is a game changer. He is a zen master.
Totally charismatic. And he is also really generous, soulful, and funny,
Everything he says is brilliant.
So git over it, man,

Did you know he also used to hate tennis? That one makes him especially unique because everyone else on this planet is absolutely in love with their job.

From a rebellious wig-wearing youth to a family man and commited philantrope who has no regrets and leaves his ego at the door (except in a charity exo against Sampras or when writing his autobiography full of cheap shots against his former colleagues). He went to some dark places man but crawled his way back by learning to love others and then himself and going up and down the Magic Mountain.

Did i know he hated tennis? Well, i only read Open one hundred and thrice, but, like, i go to Open re-enactments every weekend in Vegas. And i wear a Longines watch now because it's super spiritual. Yeah, so it is safe to say that André understands me.
Have I mentioned He and i wear the same kind of necklace?
Yeah, I made my kids make one for me after showing them a photo of Dré. So now they are connected to the zen of Agassi. So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Yeah because he was consistently losing to Rafa all the time...

But, it's true that Federer lost to Nadal too often and frequently on surfaces which favored Nadal. I don't understand why some Federer fans can't admit it. Whatever the reasons were, i.e. whether it was the clay beatings that dented Federer's confidence or whether Federer didn't use the most brilliant tactics vs Nadal all of the time or a combo of both, Federer lost too often to Nadal.

The beauty however, is that these days, things are looking brighter in the rivalry and I hope it lasts.

Sounds to me that Agassi is basically saying that Federer is more talented than anyone he's ever seen.

Oh no I agree that he lost to Nadal and that he has always been a thorn in Federer’s side, I do think that had Federer had this confidence against Nadal, to really drive through his backhand, the rivalry may have turned out a little different.

Well, he’s not wrong. But nothing he said here was particularly revealing either. Most of that is generally known already (has been for years), and many others have already given the same appraisal of Federer. Every time Federer has a dip for a while and then comes back to dominate, we tend to hear this story. How many times does the same thing need to be said?

I love Andre Agassi. He was probably my favorite player to watch and certainly very wise and astute. But although I hate to say it, he’s also kind of a bandwagon jumper. He tends to flip flop between Federer and Nadal in terms of who the GOAT is. He seems to modify his perspective based on which one is doing better at any given time (the last time he watched one of them play).

Here are some quotes from him about both players this year alone:

Federer: “You’re looking at arguably the greatest ever because of what he could do on every surface,” Agassi said. “He could beat the best from the back of the court. He had Plan A, B, C, D. And he never usually got to Plan C or D. Occasionally he’d go to Plan B. So this is just somebody incredibly special. But he’s also dealing with two other guys that you can argue are at the top of the history of our sport, with Djokovic and Nadal.”

http://www.hindustantimes.com/tenni...ndre-agassi/story-p1ZbtWAZoN75Cpgp5GGTbJ.html

Nadal: “I have to put Rafa on top because he is clearly superior when head to head,” said Agassi.

There's many Fed fans on here who refused to admit he had a bad back at the USO, so chalk that up to either being blind or clueless (or both). Any Fed fan who is so obtuse as to not have experienced his mental weakness against Rafa must be a "fan" in name only. They obviously weren't watching their matches prior to 2017.

His climb back is very inspirational and the reason for my name in here.
But his comments about federer didnt bring anything new to the table.

Andre said in early 2017:

"I look at Federer and he makes things look so easy that it pisses me off. Is Federer better than Pete? Yes. He could beat people from anywhere, from the back of the court. He has a plan A, B, C and he never got to C; he barely gets to B."

http://www.livemint.com/Sports/0rfI...etter-than-Pete-Sampras-Yes-says-Andre-A.html
That’s almost exactly how I feel lol!

When Fed truly puts his mind to it he has the ability to destroy anyone at anytime (see 2011 WTF). But the fact is he while he wanted it to a certain extent he wasn’t driven to the point Rafa and Novak were and left success on the table.

Agassi still sore from that UO defeat..

That USO final match was pretty damn fun to watch . I re-watched a few sets and the pace they were hitting the ball was utterly insane. Both guys just blasting the ball . Federer actually raised his game in the last set to a level I have rarely seen.

I thank Agassi for revealing this secret. I hadn't yet figured out what made Federer so great.

Glad Agassi has finally spilled the beans !! Oh by the way.. Agassi is eating too many beans among other things as the guy has put on some huge poundage !!!

I don't see why not. Agassi have played both prime Sampras and Federer many times and obviously knows Federer was the tougher opponent. He conceded that he can't beat a prime Federer so for him to be dishonest would make him look resentful.

Federer is all talent. Freaky, ridiculous amount of talent. He is well known for not practicing a lot before tournaments. The reason why he is still dominating is great talent and pathetic field

I was being sarcastic, thought it was pretty obvious.

I see Agassi "hating" tennis as sensationalistic nonsense to sell his book. I'm sure many people hate their mundane 9-5 jobs far more than an uber talented athlete who earned millions hitting a fuzzy ball over the net.

I like Agassi but I do think that sometimes he's full of it.
