Andrew castle, the legend

Nope. Barry Cowan is the ultimate tennis commentator. When he explains how Federer should be hitting his FH it amazes me Federer doesnt seek an audience with Barry just to listen in awe of such Zen like tennis knowledge.

Hey, Barry's paid his dues. Don't forget that he once took Pete Sampras to 5 sets on the hallowed lawns of Centre Court! ;)

Read the YouTube comments on this video Maybe him and mats should do a tennis programme together, ******** hour

Castle to Mats: "Are you over 45? You look it!" No false flattery from Andrew although maybe a tad short on tact.;)

Still, he got part of his prediction right. Bartoli did make the final and went on to win it!

those guys are the another reason why wimbledon is so special, for the rest of the slams you have basically the same team, but at this time of the year you have the likes of castle and company, it makes it feel like you somewhere else

"HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS???"

Yes, every week, Petch.

AHAHAHA.

I'd love it if he poked fun at himself by saying something like...

"HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS???!!!!1111 BECAUSE I HAVE IN MOST OTHER MATCHES I'VE COMMENTATED ON AND I should really calm down sometimes."

Would probably be funnier without the calming down bit.

"THAT IS UNREAL -- PROOF WE ARE LIVING IN A COMPUTER SIMULATION! WHAT IS LIFE?"

Remember when he fluffed his words when Federer hit that overhead smash against Davydenko? I think he said something like "..not quite as good as the between-the-shots leg he hit at the US Open against Djokovic."

lol

Ditto that. He is saying the most obvious things. Never brings up any interesting.
He loves to compare other players, also top players, to himself! Talks about himself and his not so intetesting career.

He's normally taking the mickey out of the relative levels of his career to that of the other commentators and those on court, so I don't think that's fair. It's designed to give context to how difficult it is, and a nice counter to the whining from Lloyd who often sounds like he begrudges the success of those on court.

You need to remember that it's the BBC, so no adverts, so they've got to fill a lot more time with talking nonsense than on most other channels, and it's the choice of the producer to fill the breaks with chat, rather than leave it silent.

Adv. Edberg

Legend
Nobody is worse than Chris Bradshaw. He's making the even most mundane thing appear like it's something never seen before.

"He's only 22 years of age... and hitting a forehand down the line... on his first ever... Wimbledon... how???"

Things like that all the time. And whenever Wawrinka hits a winner he's quoting Wawa's tattoo, every time.

When Federer won Murray in 2012 at Wimbledon , Henman said about one of Federers drop shots " that was delicious" him and Castle are on another level
Here's an idea, replace all current Wimbledon commentators with Mary Berry from Bake Off.

Halfway through a match when Murray starts whining, "Oh dear, looks like there's a soggy bottom."

Eh, if it's a British player playing, especially Andy, he can be rather annoying (amusing also). Some comments I remember from him.

When Roddick was complaining about people in the stands at Queens 2011 vs Murray, Castle was like "So somebody had to leave the arena. Get over it". Or Murray's match against Djokovic at the AO 2015. Called out Novak for faking an injury, and said something like "Goodness knows what will be wrong with him at he start of the fourth set".
