Roger has his opinion but it’s easy to say “hold off until conditions are more ideal” when you’re already sitting on Mount Olympus. These other dudes need a paycheck in a way that Federer can it relate. Frankly with Federer in what is likely the final 12-18 months of his career he shouldn’t really be a decisive voice in tour decisions. He had his time and he simply won’t be around for him the implementation of significant changes. Let the guys in thier prime have a bigger voice.

Federer already went on record saying that Nadal and Djokovic are both going to surpass his Slam haul. He's perfectly fine with it too upon realizing that both those guys have achieved superior results to him over the past decade.

Don't you think this situation should've been addressed over the past 100 years? It took a pandemic for the ATP to finally get off their butts and do something to help players? Low pay for players has been an issue forever. They never gave a damn about the players which is why the pay is only 8-10% as compared to other sports where it's closer to 50%.

Now if this Harris character is really ranked somewhere below 200 and was quoted, "Serena Williams is real selfish", I would have no trouble believing he knows what he is spotting off about. Ha, ha!!!!~

I really don't know the situation that far in past, but anyway Federer haven't show any significant initiative (if any at all, can't be sure) to solve that problem. On the other hand, Djokovic show initiative very often...

Why didn't Sampras, Agassi, Courier, Becker, Edberg, or the women's players throughout history ever make a big stink of poor player pay and lack of funding in the sport for rising players? Why didn't they show initiative? Why didn't John Mac or Brad Gilbert or Rod Laver or Cliff Drysdale try to show initiative by mentioning how bad the organization was run? How about the Williams sisters? Lindsay Davenport? Steffi Graff? Nobody showed any initiative. Why is everything Federer's problem? LOL
True but that's not the way it works because he is one of the biggest star in Tennis. Whatever he says will be given huge attention and he has influence on the tour. Like people simply don't care about lower ranked players even though they as you said are the most affected by it and should have a bigger say in this.

This is time of globalization, tweets, Facebook, everybody talk everything... Lower Ranked players raised voice more than ever and everyone can hear them... And they are right, everyone agrees...
And then, Djokovic raise his voice asking this obvious problem to be solved, in every possible situation. Same time Federer is silence, and he is the player that can make the difference, as most influential player in the world... He is always on tournaments directors side... I can't see other reason for that except some kind of selfishness... Not helping colleges, when you can and should, is reason to be called selfish...

prize money for lower level players are increasing at such an astonishing pace, that as soon as the get into junior ranking they lose interest in sport, cause being spoiled by so much money

Pro tennis players are well-off to begin with, relatively speaking. Poor people who loses their jobs are in need, not tennis pros. Hundreds of thousands have been forced out of the big cities, because there are no jobs. They sleep in tents or in relatives' living rooms etc.
There is not logic reason why rich tennis players should provide for the "poor" ones.

You are right, but I'm mainly talking about raising rewards for players that lose in first, second... rounds of tournaments...
if you talk about the events that make it to the TV, then you probably talk about players ranked inside top 100.
James Duckworth, ranked #100 at the end of Dec, 2019, made 176k USD, by playing challengers, first round of GS, and first round of some ATP events in Australia.
Lloyd Harrison, ranked #99 at the end of Dec, 2019, made 454k USD by playing a better mix of tournaments: some low profile for points, and some ATP series on top of it.
Wanna talk about efforts to raise the payments towards the low ranking players?

Uh.... about Federer..... I can kinda see his point about dealing with an empty stadium. At his level, the crowd is part of your mental game. The applauding, hailing a good shot, etc. EVERY time you make a point. Then you hit a 90mph crosscourt backhand that lands half an inch inside the corner, and...... nothing. Suddenly it's dead silent, like you're playing in a church or library. I can see his point. For those top players, it probably would be a little unnerving.
Maybe for the top players, they can have recorded tracks of applauding and/or yelling, and somebody can push the "play" button every time one makes a point, sort of like those recorded laugh tracks on TV comedies.

Be realistic. Federer is on his last legs. You think any of these kids in thier 20s trying to make a living as a pro give 2 shiits that Roger Federer thinks they shouldn’t play without fans? CmonYeah! These two dudes are in their prime, are titans of the sport and way, way more relevant and popular than Federer. Lots more talent and titles too.
Maybe google the guy there is a story about him on youtube. He spent most of his life playing tennis and reached pro lvl top 200.
I think he earned his right for an opinion and hes taking a huge risk no reward thing with this one. Not saying hes right but your logic is just about as some jelaous lil girl.

By resuming play, Federer knows the likelihood of his GS record remaining intact will continue to slip as Nadal and Djokovic win more and more. In all honesty, Fed would likely be ecstatic if the ATP just stopped playing for the next 2+ years.
