I was just kind of in a loop, lost with myself for a couple of years of, not finding the way, not understanding what to do, what for? Sounds a bit dramatic, like what's the reason or purpose to live? I don't know, just completely lost with myself...

talks of constant depressioin for 5 plus years, taking antidepressants for a year and then getting advice from Safin.

hope he finds peace and balance!
BWEH!!

I always barrack for the guy. Good to see Andre get the chance to talk about his personal demons at a time when he has a bit more support on the back of his victory in the Persian Gulf. The next step is a rematch / battle of the forehands with Fonseca.

He is a great example of negative self talk on the court. Off the court, he seems very different: fun and well liked by his peers, always willing to do the silly ATP challenge videos. Hopefully, his psych is helping him.

Nadal and Fed were great examples of positive self talk, rarely did you see them use negative self talk (not Fed when he was younger). Even after losses, they were both good at finding positives (in the press, anyway). Nadal was hilarious after their doubles loss in the locker room at laver cup: "fvcking tiafoe!"

One positive sign I think was that, in the long match with De Minaur when it took 8 match points to get past him, he smiled to himself when missing a winner instead of beating up on himself and smashing his racquet. He may have finally learned how to deal with these situations better.
This is vain hoping

He will never learn

Nah Tiafoe messed up on that day
No mercy whatsoever.

Rublev’s honesty really hit me. I’ve had similar low points, and watching him open up like that was kind of a relief. During rough patches, I tried a bunch of ways to chill out, including just zoning out with a good smoke. If anyone’s curious, I’ve grabbed stuff before from https://www.smokeday.com—it’s got a bunch of options and ships quick. Made a difference in getting through hard evenings.

Probably not. First, Rublev's often-erratic on-court behavior has made it clear to opponents that he's a "head case," even if that understanding is not linked to a clinical diagnosis. If a match is going wrong, he may start to fall apart. Second, only a lowlife (Kyrgios type?) would attempt to exploit more detailed knowledge of Rublev's condition during a match. Players aren't going to be taunting him or anything like that.

not about taunting , just giving his opponents extra confidence , an edge.. athletes usually don’t talk about their vulnerabilities to the media, and if they do, how does that usually work out for them? they certainly don’t talk about any physical problems that might help their opponent. they hide them (unless your Djokovic taking an MTO haha)

I don't think it's any secret in pro tennis circles that he falls apart when the mistakes pile up. Putting a clinical diagnosis behind it doesn't change anything from a competitors standpoint. There's no additional edge being gained as anyone with 2 eyes who's ever watched him as seen his temperament snowball based on how he plays and how the match is going.

Ok well good luck to him then

That was covered in my first point. Everyone already knows that Rublev has significant "vulnerabilities" in this area! His treatment history makes no difference.

Could Rublev be considered the best tennis player of the Open Era without reaching a GS semi-final?

Does he have a GF, wife or just had a break-up?

Perhaps it's the invasion and what he knows his country has done.
I got that feeling when watching the Kalinskaya Svitolina match. Kalinskaya played lackadaisical and lost.

I like him, but seriously have a look at what's going on in the world. You have earnings of $27 mil and millions of people in the world live in poverty
