Legend
Murray is ranked 125th in the current ATP ranking, he is below the level of direct entry into Main Draw. He can no longer use Protected Ranking because with the help of PR he was participant in Main Draw on AO 2019 and under Grand Slam rules, a tennis player cannot play twice in a row with a PR in a single GS tournament.
Many will think evidently, that Murray will be given a Wild Card. But despite the fact that Murray gained 3 GS titles in its career, this is not certain. In Men's Singles Main Draw at AO 2020 there will be 8 players with WC. 5 WCs are regularly received by Australians, one belongs to the winner of Asia-Pacific Wild Card Play-Off and the remaining two WCs will be given to the French player and American player thanks a mutual agreement between the AO organizers and the RG and USO promoters. However, Wimbledon doesn't have this agreement with other GS tournaments.
Since 1984, when the AO organizers award WCs, there was only exception is that the WC has been received by someone other player than a tennis player from Australia, USA, France or the Asia-Pacific region. This exception was Swede Mats Wilander, who received the WC for AO 1994. But Wilander is a triple AO winner (1983, 1984 & 1988), while Murray has never won the title despite five participations in AO finals. There is no guarantee that Murray will receive WC and and if he doesn't receive it, Murray will have to go to the qualifying.
