Andy Roddick vs. Tomas Berdych

I wonder who people think will win this 4th round match up at Wimbledon 2009 ?

Roddick has achieved a lot more in his career. However, Berdych is dangerous. His serve and his forehand can be huge when he is on. He seems to be highly inconsistent and not at all has come anywhere close to fulfilling his potential. However, I am a Federer fan, and I have to admit that whenever Fed is going to face Berdych I am nervous because of Berdych's power.

The head to head is 2 all. In every match they have played it has been a close run thing (except one where Berdych retired). Every match has had at least 1 tie break. Hence, they seemed to be evenly matched.

Personally I think Berdych's game would have suited the late 80's early 90's far better, when grass was faster and also their were a lot more indoor carpet tournaments.

So who are you picking? I am picking Berdych myself. Though would be happy with a Roddick win as well.

I have to go with the veteren Roddick. If top-10-Berdych shows up, I'd say maybe 5 sets with a couple tiebreaks. If sub-par-Berdych comes, it'll be straight sets with maybe a tiebreak or 7-5. Look to see Roddick in the semis against Murray.

I like the second week of a grand slam, since the top players go head to head with each other, instead of with unknowns. All eight of the men's matches look pretty good tomorrow, and the quarters should be even more so. I'm hoping for a "battle of the Andys".

Berdych will win if he has a good day and Roddick has a average to bad day.

Roddick will win if he has a good day.

Roddick will win if he has a average day, and Berdych has a bad one.

I disagree.
If Berdych does not choke, he will win.
If Berdych chokes, Roddick will win.

Roddick in 4.

And I agree with the statement above me only IF Berdych is playing well.

If he plays bad, there won't be any choking, he won't have a chance.

Isnt this how you see every match? "If (player I like) doesnt choke, (player I don't like) will lose."

"If (player I don't like) wins, it will only be because (player I like) choked, was hurt, sick, etc"

I hope Tomas wins and uses this to make the semis and shut up people who said he was done already. I like Beer-dick over Rod-dick in 4.

Berdych is so up and down, and I've just got this feeling he's going to psych himself out, not up, sometime in the middle of this match. It'll be close up to that point, but I look for Roddick to pull away in the middle/late point of the match.

Roddick d. Berdych
6-4, 6-7, 7-5, 6-3
