Andy will win a M1000 or a slam again before he retires

Feel free to revisit this thread to pay respect when he does. The game is nearly back so the only thing stopping the Knighted Metal Baron beating the Berrys, Sinners etc of this world is mental weakness + hesitancy, which Lendl will drive out of him by early 2023. Djokodal aren’t as consistent as they once were.

I’m thinking Miami or Montreal, with another Queens/Wimbledon double at some point.

How’d you conclude this? Cuz he was a former slam champion?

Well Cilic is a former slam champion and made a slam SF this year and had a 1-0 lead on Ruud.

It’s 100000x more likely Cilic wins another masters/slam before he retires than Murray doing it.

Draw Depending and a few upsets along the way. It is possible for an MS1000.

Maybe an opponent withdraws against him in a 3rd or 2nd round match.

to make it fair i think posters should be banned if they make a wrong prediction..
there has to be repercussions

Big Andy fan, love the guy been following since before his breakout at Wimbledon, live score watching in the wee small hours from Australia, wish him all the best….but it ain’t happening, the difference between top and also ran is maybe 3-5%
Andy is at 75% at best, and it is physically impossible for him to better that.

What do you mean? His performance has nothing to do with mental weakness or hesitancy. He's just worn out and old at this point.

I mean Fritz, PCB, and Coric won M1000s this year, with champs such as Norrie, Hubie, Fognini, Khachanov, and Sock in recent years so why not

Because they are all much younger and much fitter than Andy (Fognini aside and it's been 3 years now since he won anything of significance). Their hips are still intact.

Muzziah had two good shots at winning a 250 title this year and failed. He often gets stuck sometime early in the draw with a draining 3-set grind. If he loses he’s out. If he wins he’s out the next round. He doesn’t have the stamina to grind out a M1K, nor the power to sail through several rounds to be fresh at the money end of a draw.

As to a slam, he might want to play @sureshs for a free Denny’s Grand Slam if he really wants another slam. That might go to a match STB if Andy isn’t sharp.

They're not all that fit, but that's beside the point. Anyway I'm not saying that I think he'll do it, I'm just saying it's not impossible as it might have been for someone at that level more than half a decade ago. Bottomline, all he needs is one week where a draw falls apart and he raises his game a bit. And, well, with the state of the tour rn it's not fully out of the question

Cilic still has the physical abilities to pull it off, but he's weak in between the ears.
Murray is strong between the ears, but lacks the physical abilities to pull it off
