Thanks, then what is TLC ? Any idea ?

Pneumated1, it sounds from your description that the 16x19 does, in fact, require a little TLC to keep from overhitting. Since my strokes are not super spinny, I may have the same issues that you did with it. I, too, would love to see a 16x20 (or even an 18x19 for that matter) in the TC95, as it could be the best of both worlds. But for now, I think that the 18x20 is where I am leaning. Thanks for your input.

I think you summed it up well, Pneumated1: the TC95 16x19 is the greater weapon if you are comfortable handling it. ChrisG, you previously alluded to this as well. I will give it a little more thought and decide soon which way to go. Thanks to all for your assistance.

*Update*

I’ve decided to go with the TC95 18x20 63ra. I used to have this frame but a half inch extended. Since I’m familiar with it, it seems like a no brainer to go with this spec but in standard length.

Edit:

Not to mention a 95 is inherently more maneuverable than a 97/98. This feels like a deciding factor knowing I will most likely ad some weight to the sides.

Yeah Ive settled in at 12.6 oz and that's light for me. Im a big returner and there's something about mass that makes returning and the net so much better.
My thoughts exactly. Sure, it’s easier to take bigger cuts with a 12 ounce racquet, but bunting back a return is something that becomes much easier to do with a 360+ gram stick.

I like to come to the net, especially when Im playing those who really know my serve (because we have played hundreds of times). They try to bleed off pace and bunt their returns... which is an invitation for me to S&V, especially on second serves. It also puts pressure on the returner. I feel that the S&V game is kinda the last twist of the knife when I break it out. It kills any momentum they are trying to build.

great read again - i remembered reading this thread previously. last time i mained a pair of V2 TC95 16m 63RA was about 5 year or so ago. always have a spot sport for Angell racquets.

out of the blue, i thought i'd bring the pair of TC95s out of the storage cupboard a couple of days ago - saw the string/spec labels, had a giggle, and then stripped both to bear minimum spec, and then try to match one of them to my current PA23s match playing specs.

a few weeks ago i have done the same for a V2 TC100 (to v close specs of the PA23s), and really enjoyed it, its like riding a bike, with fullbed of Wilson Syn Gut Power 16 - the string moved loads, probably need to bumpe up the tension abit more. had Head Tour leather grip + YY Supergrap OG on the L3 hand, felt somewhat smaller than i am used to now, but still a great 20mins drilling session against one of my team mates.

anyway, setup the V2 TC95s - moved the weight pieces inside the pallet, cos the pairs were bought at different times and different static weight/balance specs. for one of them, i have added a babolat Syntac Pro base grip + MSV Prepsi Absorb OG, the new handle felt "much more" nicer/fuller in my hand.

strung it with the same Wilson Syn Gut Power 16, fullbed at 54/50, added lead tape at 7" location and at mid-low area of the hoop. the final specs were 340g/32.8cm/343sw/14.1TW.

weather hasnt been kind in the past few days, so i was only able to swing against the Topspin Pro. first impression after many years was great. its like riding a bike, and loved the thumping sound. i have forgotten about that sound. i have probably hit over 300 shots on each side over the past two days, with moderate footwork exercise - felt great and felt it swung faster through the air. the new handle size works for me. the 20mm D beam felt great in the hands too.

fingers crossed the weather will improve over the weekend, so i can take it out for a (proper) session, or two. if all goes well, i will definitely replicate the same setup for the 2nd TC95.

i am aware the current TC95 comes in V5 version and only 64RA.... has anyone compared the V5 to the earlier versions, especially the V1 and V2? I understand the V1 and V2 have higher SW, but as long as the playability is close enough, the SW should be easily adjusted now that the SW machine is more readily available to us rec players. (i am probably thinking too much ahead right now.. lol)

personally, i really liked the V3 PJ - have a TC97 18m with the glossy black/copper PJ, but unfortunately i didnt gel with it, probably because i prefer the flex of the TC95.. lol

(apologies for bring back an old thread....)
