Excellent thank you. I'll give the 1.25 RSLyon a try! Let's see whether I'm man enough to produce unpredictable heavy violence.... and create some mayhem down the other end.... my racquet and arm are lighter than yours but if I relax into it we'll see...:D
i play with a very relaxed arm now that im with the tc95... its the best way to use the frame... it is a big dog frame

Oh my, you’re getting down there in tension.
I played 3 sets with the TC95 36 lb tension, it played well, I had to pay attention to DT shots, cross court shots were perfect with tons of spin and kick, flat serves were tricky to hit but kick serves were excellent, overall it was pretty good with not much loss of control, comfort and ball pocketing was the highlight of lower tension.

wow..is this string very low powered?
yes it is low powered but not like super low powered, 40 lbs might have been ideal but I wanted to string it sub 40 to see what it feels like, it is feels like low powered nylon at this tension rather than poly but spin is better and ball seem to stay on the stringbed longer at this tension.

my rslyon is probably in the high 30's atm... though it needs to be restrung

Think I am settling into purchasing a TC95 16x19. A few variables I'm still debating are:
  • Stiffness - it sounds like both the 70 and 63 will be fine (ie, neither or so extremely stiff or soft that it effects playability - simply affects feel a little bit, am I right?). I've played mostly with an HPS 6.1 95 16x18 for the last 10 years and find its stiffness to be fine and have also played with a MW 200g and thought that was also fine. So I guess that is my conundrum, which one is MORE fine? Maybe I'll take both racquets out for a hit this week and see which feel I prefer before placing my Angell order.
  • Weight - the 330g/305mm spec would most closely match my 6.1, while the 320g/310mm would give me some more room to play around with weight and balance. A little bit torn on this one as well.
  • Grip Size - I assume the sizes are true to measurement? I've found Dunlops to have slightly larger grips than Wilson, for example. So while I usually buy L3 on Dunlop, I sometimes get L4 on Wilsons.

Ad 1) 63RA gets most of the plaudits in both patterns and I'd guess it's re-sale value is higher as a result.

Ad 2) 320/310 is the combination I have on most of my Angells (3 out of 4) and it's a great starting point for someone not familiar with the brand. Actually 320/305 (you can request it during ordering process) is even better given the inherent higher SW of the 63RA version.

Ad 3) Angell L3 is smaller than Dunlop L3. All of my Angell frames are L3 but I put lead tape, electric tape, Volkl leather and OG to accommodate. If I'd want to play with bare leather, I'd have to go for L4 Angell. That's considering type B grip.

Basically the 63 kinda destroys the ball in either the 95 or 100... its not just the SW, it feels like it coils up the power and releases it differently. If you like the Flex of the MW200g go for the RA63... its about an ra58 strung.

If you wrist it more or block back a lot of shots... or just dont like all the dwell time of the mw200g perhaps go for the Ra70

I've been playing with TC 95 16 x 19 63 RA 320g 10pt HL leather (stock) for almost two yeras.
342g 8-9HL strung.

It is very versatile indeed. However, I don't feel it has the immense power everybody mentions. In fact, I feel the 58 flex (strung) makes power something not so impressive about it.
I miss the ball weight of my stiffer raquets like BLX90, however, I have decided to play with sub 65 RA (strung) raquets due to tennis elbow issues, and that really helps not developing the pain.
This is keeping me interested on the TC97 version (since it is stiffer - 66RA -, and despite people say it is less powerful than TC95 63 RA due to lower SW, I'm not sure this is necessarily true).

Today I hit for about 1h, trying out 2g of lead total (1g each side) in different areas to see if power started to flare, and it did.
What I also want to accomplish is to have it hit a ball that floats less (launch angle is high and with low impact/power) to a more penetrating, laser, fast shot.
Don't know if lead can change the ball trajectory along with higher power...

Well the power has to be unlocked, its not free power but it certainly has more free power than say a Head IG Prestige MP. Lets just say the TC97 has more free power but not the same amplitude of power capacity as the TC95. So many times today the TC95 just won the day with heavy spin and penetration.

So Ive now replaced Silverstring with a full bed of RSlyon on my newest TC95. The new TC95 is now identical spec wise to the old one 360g 9pts hl but I feel like this A shape handle gives me better grip on things. I prefer it. My old one has B pallets on. I also flared the butt of the stick a tad more on the new one.

I had a good hit today playng 2 sets: 4-6 6-4 (I lost the toss and my opponent served first on very very slow rebound ace courts). It was kind of a difficult warmup as well since it looked like a female futures player was having a session with her coach and a male hitting partner. So smooth and excellent contact points... I hope she was prepping for the french as those are the slowest courts in the city (Nearby a major tennis shoe/apparel company's HQ's too). Ive never seen a college player with the team she had so Im assuming futures... public courts. Ive played with an elite 6.0 college females and she seemed similar, just this one was all business (we didnt pester her).

As for the new TC95... rs lyon is definitely my jam as is 360g it just felt way more stable than 357g and silverstring (both at 45lbs)

lead at 9 and 3 would help, for experiment string it with Gosen Micro sheep 17 it will lower the launch angle and give you more power, I have one of my tc95 set up that way and it plays very well specially for double's game.

Full Gosen?
I'm planning on stringing RS Lyon Mains and New Element crosses. Maybe that will also lower launch angle and give more power?
I've played with Scorpion/New Element for a long time and it played very well.

I also enjoy RS Lyon on the TC95. The problem is that it looses tension much faster than other polys like Scorpion, for example.

I havent found that but I string at 45 and Ive heard RSlyon isnt good to string over 52... Gosen micro sheep is a great syn gut which will give more pop

The thing with RSlyon is it will never give you more power... I choose it because it helps manage the inherent power of th TC95. Really enjoyed the Rslyon depth control today on super slow rebound ace hard court aas that depth is so crucial on slower surfaces. Basically the lower powered the string the better for me.

I have an Angell Halo (1) reel and a Weiss Cannon New Element 500 reel (multifilament). Would they be good substitutes for Gosen?

launch angle is due to mains sliding on the crosses.
Yes I have one tc95 with full bed Gosen and launch angle is way lower than poly.
I have one Fischer and one tc 95 with syngut majority of my racquets have poly.

My preferred setup at the moment is Halo 1 47/50 - the tighter crosses lower the launch angle, making flat shots (i.e. The "laser" types) easier to hit. RS Lyon was also very nice - great control and pocketing; this string also lowered the launch angle compared to Halo 1 (and most other polys i think). Max Power rough also produces a heavy penetrating ball. I love the sound of the flat shot with Lyon and MP - very satisfiying!

I am assuming you’re using Gosen OG sheep micro 17 for one of your TC95 63RA. Can you please compare how it plays compared to full poly like silverstring or RS and how you adjust tension. Little curious how synthetic may play if i’m looking for comfort for a day or two.

yes @topspn I am using full bed Gosen micro sheep 17 in tc95 63RA, I did my Fischer Eliptic with Prince original syngut now I have 2 racquets with syngut.
The weather has been unusually cold and damp for April, poly was not feeling good on the arm so I decided to do tc95 with Gosen syngut full bed, it plays very well and my arm feels wonderful, the only thing different I did is I added babolat teflon string savers on 6 main strings and that helps with strings staying straight.
Prince original syngut plays more like poly Gosen plays softer but pocketing is better on Gosen, I did it as experiment but I am going to leave at least 2 of my racquets with syngut (Gosen will be my main choice and Prince would be close 2nd)

I was loving the sound off my tc95 with a fresh bed of RSlyon yesterday... it sounded really good, which was nice since a lower ranked WTA player was having a practice session in the next court over. Oy, you think you are pretty decent until you come across one of the truly talented! Oy! Rslyon has a nice booming sound I dont get from most polys.

I think I’ll try gosen but I also tried Ashaway monogut a while back. Its super comfortable while having better control and better spin then any syn gut so also an option for one racquet when my arm feels abused.

I hit with topspin on both sides to begin with, I did not mind the spin at all... what I really enjoy is the touch, feel, volleys, pocketing and extra something on my serve with syngut, I do like lower launching angle also.

I placed 1g of lead today at 12, instead of 3 and 9. I had the impression that it lowered the launch angle significantly. Much more than placing at 3 and 9. This might be due to higher spin potential by placing lead at 12.
Angles are more easily hit with lead at 12 as well.

Weight at the tip actually increases that tip speed as opposed to the 3&9 so yes, will result in the ball dipping down faster

Ive got a rather small amount of weight on my TC95's at 12 and it is true... it is the main area I move weight around to tune the sticks for my american twist second serve. That's the one shot I want to feel most comfortable that if I throw a good toss the serve will go in with good pace and action. It is weird how I hit more aces with my second serve than my first. I can serve pretty fast and I get a lot of unreturnables on flatter firsts (I vary between kickers, regular topspinners and flats) but it is the really crazy twist seconds that get me the most clean aces). I guess its all in the read and changeup. The people I play, Ive played a lot we know eachother's serves.

Been really impressed with how heavy my main hitting partners serves are with his tc100 63ra too.

Do you use leather + overgrip on your TC95? Is it L3 ?

I thought when a racket is strung, it general drops 3 RA points, especially with MP and medium width beamed frames. OP thinks his Anell dropped 5 RA points 58.

it's been discussed many times the 63 ra is unstrung and ungripped... just a bare hairpin.

Other strung tc95's have been measured with an RA of 57 to 58

had another hit today I haven't lost a set in my last five matches even came down from a 2-4 deficit to win that set 6-4.

At first with the TC 95 I had trouble dialing in slices off my back hand but now it's a major strength, it just takes time. It was a windy day so I used a lot more slices... when I typically hits drives at 9 to 1 ratio was more like a 6 - 4 ratio today.

For comparison sake, are the TW flex ratings on the product pages strung or unstrung and is it also the same with the really old frames listed in RacquetFinder like the PT630.

Would be very interesting to have yours measured on an RDC. Personally I dont believe it is sub 60. People have had their TC95's measured on babolat rdc at around 61/62. The TC97 seems to drop more after beeing strung.
But even so, it still is a great frame :)

it's definitely got more Flex than my 61 ra Pacific x feel Pro 95

everybody senses Flex differently and I don't think RDC machines are all that fool proof either. Even how you string it will change the RA...

I'm very sensitive and it's definitely a sub 60 RA frame.. it makes a huge difference in my serving

At least 1 user got a ra of 57-58 when putting on a machine...how the test is conducted effects things a lot btw

Like where the bar the racquet pushes against is placed on the RDC machine. Can the bar's location be adjusted?
not sure but i know if you string the mains tighter than the crosses it shortens the hoop and you will get higher ra ratings... how it is gripped matters too apparently

what makes tennis warehouses tests so valuable is they have a standardized methodology that they do for all frames as opposed to a bunch of individual people with individual testing machines getting different results also Tennis Warehouse averages results among a pool ofdifferent frames that they test.

in short there's some controls set up and standardization I wouldn't be surprised if individual machines are not consistent amongst one another

Does anyone know what the swingweight would be for 330g/10HL and 330g/12HL?

Probably more luck asking in the Angell thread. You should be able to request in the order as well. For example, my TC90 should have been a fair bit lower than my TC95 but asked for them to be matched so Paul got it pretty close. Very difficult as the 90 is 70 ra at hairpin and my 95 is 63 along with a smaller hoop.

My 90 specs

Hi. 311.1/319 and SW 303

My 95 specs

Hi Stephen. 309.8/315/300SW

You should be able to get around 300-310 sw with 63 RA I am guessing with the 320 weight options. I like adding lead at 12 and 3 and 9 to get to my preferred 345g so I went with 310g. Also OEHM leather grip and overgrip if my wrist is a bit tight.

Weight of the racquet in this case is irrelevant to the SW. Weight options on Angells is through a weight system in the handle for weight and balance adjustments. TC95 63RA should be between 295-305 (maybe a bit higher) regardless of the weight and balance you ask for. Ask for a target SW with your order.

If static weight of 330g is unchanged, I assume you get from 12 to 10 points by redistributing weight, which would change swingweight.

Haven't been on the forum for a while.
Is TC90 still your preferred racquet or have you gone back to the TC95 16X19 63RA?
If you don't mind sharing the reasons for your preferences, it would help!

Still enjoying my tc95's they are just such weapons... I can sit back and ralley or I can press the issue... playing very relaxed tennis where the whole kinetic chain gets engaged. That's where the TC95 shines, its a difficult stick to read if you play it this way and my opponents seem to have no idea how much spin has been added to the ball... so I can go from flat to mule kick spin with minimal tells. It hits a heavy ball and seems to do best for those who like high swingweights.

never measured it but probably at least 345 ???? At 360g static weight and 9 pts hl and a very long fast swing on my topspin backhand the ball takes a beating. Im a big returner... where the TC95 help me most was on serves and forehands but Ive noticed players I hit with the most really avoid the BH now... last I checked the zepp sensor said 75% come to my forehand side now. My forehand is good but it is less versatile and less placement options. So my take on the TC95 is that it amplifies weapons. It is a shotmaker's kinda stick.

I play more by feel than sussing over numbers but my sticks always end up being around 360g and 9 pts hl.... no matter what brand or string pattern.

I agree with BC, it does best for those who like hight SW. I am not one of those. The last TC95 which I got along with K7 is SW335 strung. I love TC95, I can swing it in practice, but in a match play I need something more whippy. And I’m pretty fit, just my strokes are not clean enough yet. Now with K7 things get interesting for me. Power is little less, spin is probably even more, great feel, it’s faster and easier to play with.

yeah I do like a nice clean ball... part of the reason playing in a ton of wind isnt my favorite. I mean I grew up playing along lake michigan (windy) so Im used to it but I play a completely different game in the wind.
