How medvedev holds the ball out away from the frame without actually making contact and then goes straight into his service toss

just bothers me lmao. His forehand finishing around his neck does too

Just a fun thread I am making here. Are there any habits of pro players that annoy you , either past or present, or of someone you've played, or maybe even yourself ?

For me I get irritated by Shapovalov bouncing the ball between his legs before serving. Got very annoyed by Azarenka flicking her hair before serving. I wanted to get a pair of scissors and chop off her ponytail ( not sure if she does it anymore).

A player I played against would take ages to serve and at the end stick his backside towards you for an extended moment. Very off putting.

Are you kidding? I love Shapovalov (and Isner) bouncing the ball between his legs!! So much so that I suddenly started doing it myself in matches!! Now you make me wonder how annoying my opponents might find it....lol

She has tamed it down recently to be fair
Yes, that’s true! I love watching her now- her “sound effects” seem entirely different and no longer annoy me at all, and in the past I was HIGHLY annoyed!

As to habits I enjoy, Kenin's weird way of not looking up until the last minute of her serve toss really tickles me! It may be something coaches cringe at (don't know), but somehow it sort of fascinates me.

LOL at some of these remarks!

Too many players copy Nadal's drink bottle routine (lining up the labels) annoys the hell out of me. Like, make up your own damn superstitions

Gasquet - walking around and around in circles looking at the floor and how he 'pats' the ball like a puppy instead of bouncing it

Shapo - too springy and bouncy and annoying

Monfils - can't stand the way he stands to return serve, with elbows leaning on his knees - kills my tennis vibe

Isner - always putting his hand on his waist and walking around like he's dead tired

Evans - about to serve - bounce, look up, bounce bounce, check opponent, bounce bounce, check crowd, bounce bounce...etc

Tsitsipas - whatever the hell he's chewing (nothing) while bouncing the ball, how he ignores his dad while he's talking to him, how he never acknowledges his opponent's excellent play/shotmaking

Anderson - don't like that pause he makes just before the toss...feels like a glitch

Rublev - he never gives us a "bweh!" on the backhand side

Felix - takes too long to serve and too long to get set into RoS position. So freaking robotic.

Kyrgios, Coric, Raonic et al - that one-two-three rocking motion before the toss I dislike heavily

On the other hand, for some reason I find Lucas Pouille to have almost zero annoying habits....everything about his demeanour, stroke production, style and attitude is 10/10 for me, even more than my top 10 favourite players - go figure.

I watched Krajinovich pick through 5 or 6 balls every single time he served even though he was getting waxed by Medved.

Yeah bro, you look so pro rolling back 4 balls after you fruitlessly search for the one with a microgram less fuzz.

His annoying habit is putting mid court forehands into the net, your username checks out

Leylah Fernandez doing those little jumps with the back turned away from the opponent before serve - and constant fist-pumping (is this too soon ?).
Shapo with the through the legs ball bouncing
Sonego's and Brooksby's grunting (although Brooksby's is not constant - Sonego is just terrible)
Rafa's pre-serving/pre-point ritual
Nole's boob throws - he should really stop that
Everything about Kyrgios ;)

Yes, Shapo & Isner's dribble between the legs. Looks like basketball envy, sports insecurity. Doesn't Mackenzie McDonald do this, too?

Don't really like Thiem's spinning the ball on the back of his hand before serving either.

And, yeah, the WTA pounding one's own thigh, as though otherwise might lose interest or motivation. Especially Osaka but lots of others. It's a weird gesture to have become so common in this one sphere. Suppose I used to do something like that on long drives to stay alert.

Anyone waving arms out upward to try to get the crowd louder. Do something on the court to give them something to cheer about.

I'm usually more amused than annoyed by players' various on-court habits. The one that does annoy me is taking ages to serve and then missing it so they have to start all over again!
Especially when you're getting ready to receive the serve and feel like you may fossilize in position before the ball heads your way.
