Another Boring Final

Personally for me I can't think of any HC match that was quite at that level - Novak in Doha comes closest in recent memory. But we can agree to disagree.

you might want to watch the DC 97 SF match - sampras vs rafter ( & maybe the scud one as well -- from what I've heard, yet to watch it )...you are in for a treat :

Well I know some of this can be subjective so I understand what you're saying. I personally rate Djokovic's level again Nadal in the 2011 US Open final as one of the highest I have ever seen.

nope. no match from djokovic that comes close to fed's brilliance in the US Open 04 final ...

Well I know some of this can be subjective so I understand what you're saying. I personally rate Djokovic's level again Nadal in the 2011 US Open final as one of the highest I have ever seen.

baseline and returning, perhaps. But his serving (and nadal's ) was WTA like. He got broken 6 times in the first 3 sets. there's no way overall that it comes close to federer's in USO 04 final ..

he was IMO better in the SF vs federer and still nearly lost to federer who wasn't even at his peak (though was playing some good tennis )

His AO performances ( AO 08, 11, 16 SF, 13 SF ) etc. were better than his USO 11 Final performance ..

Yes I agree as AO is probably his best surface.

Very interesting that they were calling Federer's dominance in 2004 boring on this forum.

Funny because only one poster said that - and then came the others saying that it wasn't boring at all. Take a look at this, specially:

If you think that was boring then I think you should stop watching tennis

There are comptetitive tennis matches, matches with drama and tension, and then there are sublime performances which are a work of art.

We should be lucky we get to watch Fed work his magic.

You'll never see anyone say that about one of those boring murrovic finals.
