Another line call question

I was serving in doubles today and the returner launched a return cross court right at my feet close to the baseline. I played it and my shot was good (but not a winner) but I was almost certain the ball was out so I immediately looked up at my partner for confirmation who then called it out (after the match he told me it was clearly out, about three inches). The returner clearly thought it good. The call was maybe a second late at the most. Should we have given them the point? I know the rule about uncertainty in one partner means you give up the point, but I was relying on my partner's better view.

Your point, but your partner needs to pick it up. If your shot had been long, I think the other team would have a legitimate gripe, even though the result would have been the same.

I think the rule is not uncertainty but disagreement between partners means it's in. There are many situations where one partner has a much betterv iew than the other. This was one of them.

You're right, I remembered the rule wrong. There was no disagreement, I just wanted to make sure he saw it the way I did before we called it out. His partner also saw it long, but that didn't keep him from acting like a total d***** bag for the rest of the match.
