another Nick Kyrgios production

What should Kyrgios do now

when you can make the master of choke (yes Berdych) look like Bjorn Borg in his prime, while simultaneously channeling your inner Jimmy Connors demon, you now rank as one of the all-time greatest side shows in tennis history. Yes Berdych is a great player but his Grand Slam career is summed up by his 1 Slam Final, equal to the powerhouse that is Marcos Baghdatis essentially. For a player of Kyrgios' supposed talent to go down in flames like that in front of his home crowd is just awesome, because he is not only completely un-coachable, but an absolute joke mentally.

He and Benoit Paire should start their own tour, like they had before the Open Era and go to gyms and roll out the court. Maybe if they play each other 1,000 times they will realize they should've taken up skateboarding instead.

Kyrgios falls into what we call around here 'overrated'.

You would think he is the second coming given some of the hype surrounding this guy.

Generally disagree, Kyrgios is about to become top 10 material.
Please do not underestimate Berdych he is a fabulous opponent!

:D

At Kyrgios age berdy, nadal, fed, hewitt all had been in top10 and won several titles by than. Nicks gotta get serious in other tournaments other than grandslams to get himself seeded and a better chance of going deep. Right now his just another monfils

I thought it was already well known that it's harder for young players to break into today's game.

I consider myself a restrained Monfils fan and I am deeply offended by this comment.
Sure the comparison was off, but don't act like Monfils was amazing as young player. Monfils at Kyrgios's age did have more success in the smaller events (He had won 1 250 along with 4 Runner Up finishes). However, his best finish at a slam was just 1 4th round at Kyrgios' age. Kyrgios, in comparison, has 2 QFs and 1 4th round.

I meant that irrespective of their results.

OP should consider taking up skateboarding. Just watching tennis seems to stress you him out a lot.

Let's be rational, why should Kyrgios do anything but keep playing? He is 20 and has many more years of tennis ahead of him. Only on talktennis would someone think that a hyped 20 year old losing to a perennial top 10 player is a be-all-end-all situation for a young prospect.

I certainly hope DickNick keeps on playing... and losing. An object lesson is needed for future youngsters who think a bad hair job, no sleeves and an atrocious attitude are necessary for success as a tennis player.

I should stop? I think the general consensus here (and everywhere else people sport a sports IQ over 65) is that Kyrgios is squandering his talent and his life in general acting like a mutation of 16 y.o. Andre Agassi and Jimmy Connors both at their punky worst. Those guys at least laid got big wins while Kyrgios combines their worst elements into 1 package while simultaneously blowing up in pressure moments due to a short circuiting in his brain.

He played the best set I think I've ever seen against Robredo at US last yr, only to lost the match. LOL. Methinks I'm not the one who has a problem...
Happy hunting!

Can I vote for 2? OMG I CAN VOTE FOR 2!!!!

Well made poll sir!

Why thank you : ) Unfortunately it looks like Tomic is going to beat MiIllman (watching replay) so I guess I'll have to wait another round before I post my Tomic Poll. LOL

I think most reasonable tennis fans think Kyrgios is a good player, but has obvious weaknesses in his game that have nothing to do with questionable character and antics on the court. He has a huge serve and forehand, but other that he is a mediocre athlete with bad returns and consistency issues. Berdych is a much better player than Kyrgios at this point and it showed. Kyrgios is actually improving tennis-wise, his W-L record in 10-9 in 2014 and 24-19 in 2015. The dude pretty much has 90% of his career left to play, yet people here are dramatizing this loss as if this is all he will ever be capable off. I would at least wait till the guy is 23-24 before saying he is "squandering his talent and his life". It's kinda funny how people who dislike Kyrgios the most tend to have the highest expectations from the guy. I don't like Kyrgios, and I tend to avoid watching his matches because of his antics, but there was no shame in that loss tennis-wise; in order for him to improve, he needs to play the great players and learn from the beatdowns. Now his antics, on the other hand, are another story.

Disagree. He is completely wasting his talent with his lack of focus on whats important. His antics simply serve notice to that effect. It's not like he's 16. He can learn-- but will he? LOL

His weakness is in his head, 100%.

Sorry but the only high expectation I have of DickNick is that he will start losing to newbie players regularly and badly for ever.

Nick kyrgios : Career titles : 0 - zero, nada, zilch, niet, nicht, big fat no!

Gets praised like he is a second coming...

Ah the sorry state of this forum

I don't like Nick Kyrgios for all the reasons already mentioned in this thread, but anyone who doesn't see that if the kid could find a way to grow up and maintain focus during a tennis match, that match would be on his racquet more than not, is blind. He has a lovely game: solid serve, solid groundstrokes, nice touch at the net.

He has the tools to build a better career than Hewitt, but I fear he won't because he will never learn how to use them effectively. Hopefully, time will prove me wrong about his ability to grow up, but I doubt it. Once an a**, always an a**.

lol, are you seriously suggesting this was a match he was supposed to win? You are delusional!
Yeah he's still getting it together... reminds me of Agassi. He probably has to have some life changing moment before he starts to get serious. Kid has skilz but in tennis it is all in the application. Seriously in need of an awesome coach...

I kind of see Krygios having a Berdych like career if he can wise up and make the most of his talent. Tomas probably would have won a slam if he wasn't going against Fed, Nole and Rafa his entire career.

He was have a tantrum most of the match, yelling at the umpire, complaining that Vinolas wasn't getting ready in time, etc.
Just another Nick Kyrgios production...

I didn't even really understand why he was so upset (before the obvious incident, of course).

His temperament and behavior makes it terribly hard to be a fan :( I've liked the dude for a while but sadly he doesn't seem to be changing or mellowing out any

I was sitting courtside for this match, what a freaking circus.

Kyrgios was also given a warning during the first set for smashing a ball high into the stands

Into the stands? He launched it about 100 yards out of the stadium!

Nick started the match acting like Ramos was not even there, hitting 120mph second serves, hitting a shot between his legs (that was right to him), chatting up these hot women sitting courtside (in between points - yes I got a picture of them lol), whining, swearing, complaining about being sick etc. He was being so disrespectful of his opponent.

When the chair ump called 'point penalty, audible obscenity' (which cost Kyr a crucial break point btw) my brother yelled, "for which one?!" and everyone laughed.

Ramos was pissed and totally stalled to throw K off more and then made poor Nick run back and forth so he was too tired to hit 120mph second serves, lol.

I must admit though, it was incredibly entertaining.

Nick wants it to be worth the price of admission. If he just won every match love and love like he can against everyone then the organizers would get mad.

Good point on Ramos; saw that. Please do post that pic! Kudos to your brother!

Kyrgios is a 4 year old who is trying to behave, but can't help having some temper tantrums, and its incredibly entertaining!

Le Grande that is true, I can defend Murray till the cows come home but when the going get's tough Andy starts swearing or shouting at his box....actually if the Umpire warned him about his language maybe Murray would focus more under immense pressure.

Omg that is hilarious, thanks for that :D chatting women up mid game?? what an utter clown lmao

Probably not funny for his opponents tho who just want to play some tennis while enduring all the clowning. Nick has no respect for his opponents at all and probably thought he could phone it in and win. I'd have been pissed off too. Good on Albert for winning lol

Fun moment: this was when Nick was already complaining Albert was taking too long. Nick serves a ball. Goes long, Albert pops it back. One bounce, Nick catches it in one hand, and then *immediately* goes to serve it! Sees Albert is not ready, and erupts, throws up his hands, stomps away, grimacing and yelling. Hilarious!

I saw the highlights. I think part of NK's tactic is to disrupt his opponent. It can be easy for his opponents to lose concentration when they hear NK constantly rambling and complaining etc, especially if they start to miss a few shots. He goes way overboard so it's unsporting. Ramos just let his racket do the talking and didn't let NK's outbursts affect him, so kudos to Ramos.
