Forgot to mention, I've tried the Wilson Rush Pro 4.0 and after 1 1/2hs the plant of my feet started to hurt. So I guess not the same cushioning as Resolutions.Wilson rush
Thats probably because of the lack of arch support, thats something your feet get used to after a while, when you are used to arch support for a long time, your feet are not strong enough to live without it at first, maybe i would look at new balance too, apart from that, nike also has the lightest shoes, it all depends what fits your feet well.Forgot to mention, I've tried the Wilson Rush Pro 4.0 and after 1 1/2hs the plant of my feet started to hurt. Didn't know that. I do use custom insoles. Tried the Challenger, that plastic shank in the middle of the foot is unbearable.Gel Challenger. Not as Durable but meetts the Gel Res in most other aspects. Gotta give somewhere
- Midsole: Asics' signature GEL cushioning system in both the rear and forefoot combined with Solyte midsole technology offers plush cushioning and explosive responsiveness with each step. A midfoot Trusstic System resists twisting through the midfoot for added support.
Exactly, they use the right foam in the right places.@Gerco
What is it about the comfort in the Gel Res? Is it the foam they used?
Specifically in the fore-foot area. So good. Not too hard, not too squishy, jusssssst right.
My Gel Res 8 starting to wear out... cannot find better (on the lookout but haven't tried many others).
I think I only had 3 pairs of actual tennis shoes over my 11 year tennis playing period. Rest of the time I wore running shoes, which I have always referred to as tennis shoes . Kinda in the same predicament as I have not worn ASICS tennis shoes for tennis since 2013-15 I think. All the new models just seemed to get heavier. I've worn ASICS running shoes to play in. Can get 2 pair for under $120 if you go to the right store. Which is what 1 pair of asics tennis playing shoes cost.
Barricades. I find them more comfortable than my gel res 8s.
The barricades are every bit as stable if not more. comfort sometimes has more to do with fit. Barricades have never been known as plush comfortable shoes but I did find them more comfortable than the GR8's because they fit my foot better. Cushioning is where the GR8's are objectively better. Bounce in the barricades are interesting. they don't ever feel plush but also don't feel like there's no cushioning and they seem to hold up pretty well.Does this apply to the 2023 Barricades? I am currently using the GR8s, and I love the stability but don’t necessarily love the weight - the Barricades are a little lighter, are they as stable?
But the barricades aren't as comfortable.I would just buy the 2021 barricades on sale, it's basically the same shoe.

Are the Barricades wider than the GelRes 8’s?
They are both similar width, but the barricades don't have as much plasticy bits around the forefoot. For me, the barricade is a more comfortable shoe than the gel res 8. Others disagree, but that's why we try them on. I found the lacing system in the gel res 8 uncomfortable and it put pressure on top of my foot, seems to not be an issue on the 9.Are the Barricades wider than the GelRes 8’s?

Have you worn both generations of the B.Icon or just one of them?Diadora Speed B. Icon - I think they actually weigh like the same as the GR, but they feel lighter bc they're so locked to your foot. I think the GR feels heavy bc the upper is kind of minimal compared to the chunky lower. Similar effect in Vapor 11. I personally like that kind of shoe, and it's the popular way to design them now. But if you want a stable shoe that doesn't feel heavy, the Speed B. Icon is a good one.
I had gel res 8 (wide) and moved to barricade because of the midfoot crossover lockdown thing, I ended up cutting the internal strap to free my foot a little. But the Barricade is actually a much better, faster more responsive shoe. It does lack the plush cushioning but you can tune it with your insole choiceThank you for the feedback. I have some Gel Res 8’s and totally agree about the lacing system. I think that is what makes the shoe feel narrow to me. It’s really just tight and puts pressure on the top of my foot.
For me, in the midfoot area, yes. Also the staggered lacing makes it easier to pooch them where you need itAre the Barricades wider than the GelRes 8’s?
I agree with one caveat. The GR9 have much better supportHave you considered Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 5? They are lighter than Gel Resolution and are very comfortable for my feet. They may not fit well with everyone, but I used to play with Asics shoes, and I like Mizuno better.
With the GR9 you mean it is more rigid, or they change the upper lockdown (think its the same?) or it more cups the foot or soemthing??I agree with one caveat. The GR9 have much better support
To begin with, the exceed tours have a narrower heel and outsole in general, which shaves weight off but is a less stable platform. The upper on the GR9 does feel more rigid but not to the point of being uncomfortable (like barricades). The GR9 also has those plastic pieces that run around the side of the shoe to provide extra support. How it cups your feet is a personal thing IMO, based on the shape of your feet. Barricades fit my feet incredibly well but I can see how it doesn't work for everyone. With the GR9 you mean it is more rigid, or they change the upper lockdown (think its the same?) or it more cups the foot or soemthing??
I always had my eyes on Mizuno tennis shoes but unfortunately they are almost impossible to get here where I live.Have you considered Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 5? Could somebody explain me something:Same w/r to gel resolution - love the fit and comfort, but would love something similar but lighter and speedier
Frankly, that's not as easy a question to answer as it seems. Maybe I'm not sensitive enough, but I need around 1/2 an ounce before I feel any difference. But the more important factor in how "light" a shoe feels is the fit. A shoe that's 1/2 ounce lighter will feel heavier if it doesn't fit my feet as well.Could somebody explain me something:
At how many grams weight difference do we see a noticable difference on court?
Whats the speed difference if a shoe is 10 grams lighter?

Side note Barricades are everywhere and can always be copped for like 70 onsale
