Any Arm Problems with . . .

Since the TW database crashed, I'll just put up a short version of my previous post that is now lost.

Comments/Feedback/Opinions/Comparison (especially in the category of ease on the arm) for any of the following racquets would be greatly appreciated.

1) Babolat Pure Storm
2) Babolat Pure Drive Standard with Cortex
3) Yonex RDS001 Midplus
4) Prince 03 Tour Midplus
5) Babolat Pure Control

Gonna demo the Babolat Roddick Pure Drive Standard and 3 out of the 5 above. Just out of curiousity, what would be your three picks for the best of the bunch?

Thanks for the help.

Umm, (and not that i've used any of the Babolats in your list) but from reading these boards, Babolats seem to have the worst reputation in terms of arm-friendly factor. I'm sure if you do a search you'll find many threads on this....

I'm just curious: do you mind me asking (and esp. if this reputation is the case), why the rather massive babolat-skew in your potential test-fleet, especially as you're not currently using one?

for a pain free arm and a exceptionally solid frame, forget about all the frames you listed except the pure storm team and the RDS midplus. The storm may be a babolat but it doesn't give arm pain

I've played extensively with 1) in a ALU Power hybrid strung fairly tight. No arm problems. The Pure Storm is a great racquet and never game me any arm issues. With 3) and a softer string, currently Babolat Attraction, definitely no arm problems. With something stiffer in 3), like TiMO, not sure if one could see arm problems.

Not sure what usually causes arm problems (there a few different kinds, tennis elbow, golfers elbow, numbing of outer 2 or inner three fingers depending on which nerves are being pinched). But I've been told that extreme wester grips have been known to cause problems, as well as, (as others have noted numerous times on other posts), slightly off form. Do you think strength exercises might help. Strengthening shoulder are biceps to compensate some of the strain on the lower arm and elbow joint. Just throwing ideas out there.

Good luck with finding the right fit for your game and arm. I would recommend 1) and 3) as comfortable racquets. But that's just me.

no problem :D

tripleB: i wouldnt go for the PD w/ cortex, i dont know about the roddick, but i tried the original PD. even i got arm problems with it in my bicept, and im 15. i switched back my rds 001 mp and the arm problem went away. i used it in a doubles match.

from your list, i think you'll like the 03 tour MP and the yonex the most. ive tried the 03 tour and its a great frame too. i just dont like how it swings in the air, the aerodynamics.. just doesnt appeal to me ;) but it plays great

Triple B -

Unless you've had an injury I don't think you'll have a problem with the babolat racquets. I played for years with a HPS 5.0 and had no problems.
Many times sore elbows and shoulders are tecnique problems not racquet problems. If you've played a lot of football or wrestled or have a sore shoulder from baseball/softball or other shoulder/elbow/wrist injury a stiff racquet may not be the best choice.

I've hit with the Original PD Std the PC and the APD Std and had no problems. Could I 'feel' the stiffnesss yes but they were strung at high tensions with Poly strings. I think they'd be just fine with a good quality multifilament or hybrid.

I too am 'seduced' by the power of the PD and its cousins and may demo the PDR over the winter. I'll be interested to read your updates

THANKS FOR EVERYONE'S INPUT. I'VE DECIDED TO GO WITH THE PURE DRIVE RODDICK STANDARD, PURE STORM, RDS 001 MP, AND THE PURE DRIVE STANDARD WITH CORTEX.

I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW THINGS TURN OUT WITH THOSE FOUR RACQUETS.

its a waste of your time to go with the PD w/ cortex AND the PDR w/ cortex instead of dropping the PD for the 03 tour MP. you would've liked it more... oh well

I may have liked the 03 Tour MP more but over my lengthy playtest of the 03 White I tended to like the "softer 0-ring" feel less and less. I also seem to shy away from most racquets that are as flexible (61) as the 03 Tour.

I know I really like the Pure Drive Roddick so I ordered it again (in a larger grip size) and wanted to compare its lighter brother to it to see if there is a big difference in maneuverability and stability.

Thanks for your advice.

oh alright, that explains it. i havent tried the 03 white, but i think it would be a cross b/w the 03 tour mp and the pd (?). but im happy with my yonex
