Nice observation, but not really relevant IMO. In the first half of the year the ranking has more to do with the last season than the new one, so for example Federer being #2 for some time early in 2013 or 2016 doesn’t have anything to do with his level in those quite forgettable seasons.This would also be the first year since 2002 that Federer has not been ranked No. 2 or higher at any point during the season.
What leads you dislike Federer so much?No because he's old, no because he's post prime, no because young generation, no because younger rivals, no because mono, no because pretty backhand, no because he continually amazes by improving and adapting yet somehow is worse than before.
