Anaheim is too far for me. I used to live closer, though.

BTW, Tagalog is a recognized second language in schools around here.

Every other guy I hit with is a Filipino.

And all Filipino women work as nurses.

Or is that a stereotype?

But definitely I have not come across a single unhappy Filipino. Must be those buffets they go to around here.

I live in a Filipino neighborhood and I love Filipinos and lots of my tennis partners and junior players at the club are Filipinos. I have not yet met an unfriendly Filipino but I am sure they have to exist according to the laws of probability.

I have observed that many Filipino men lose hair as they age and Filipino women become fat and not attractive any more after a certain age.

Wait a minute - that is true for most men and women, not just Filipinos.

hw many fillos in ur stc:?))8-B8-B8-B8-B8-B8-B8-B8-B8-B8-B8-B.............

Some Rey Felipe from Spain gave his name to the Philippines.
Here’s the last version.

Eala didn't have the result she was looking for against Mertens. Strong start then lost 12 straight games. :(

2024 QUALIFICATIONS: EALA, THIS I DON’T KNOW WHAT

At just 19 years old, Alexandra Eala will try to become the first Filipina to qualify for a Grand Slam.

The qualifications for a Grand Slam tournament are charming in that they are - among other things - as much an opportunity to celebrate old glories as to discover new faces. And if we don't have a crystal ball, it's still a safe bet that Alexandra Eala will figure prominently in the tennis landscape of tomorrow.

Born on May 23, 2005, a historic date...
At just 19 years old (she was born on May 23, 2005, a historic day at Porte d'Auteuil, we'll let you guess before coming back...), the Filipina is the youngest player still in the running in the table of "qualifying", where she reached the 3rd round today at the cost of a close duel against an Australian of the same age, Taylah Preston . The latter won the first set, led 4-2 in the 3rd and fired 29 winning shots before admitting defeat 4/6, 6/4, 7/5 .

A victory revealing the mental strength of the young Eala, who now has history within reach as she will try to become the first player from the Philippines to qualify for a Grand Slam. She will have a lot to do, however, since she will face the No. 2 seed in the table, Argentina's Julia Riera , 93rd in the world and victorious over Frenchwoman Harmony Tan .

“ It will definitely be one of the most important matches of my career, but I will have to approach it with the same mentality as the others , ” commented the Quezon City native, whose mother was a top swimmer ( bronze medalist in the 100m backstroke at the 1985 Southeast Asian Games) and whose older brother plays tennis at an American university. " Having the opportunity to make my country's history is something I never imagined. It's a huge privilege. I get a lot of love from the Filipinos and I'm very grateful. "

If we have to go back to the 1968 edition of Roland-Garros to find traces of a Filipino player, Eduardo Cruz, in the main draw of the Grand Slam, we obviously also have a little thought for Leylah Fernandez , who is certainly Canadian but whose mother is from this Asian archipelago. We think about it all the more when we see Alexandra Eala play, whose tennis style is entirely reminiscent of that of the 2021 US Open finalist , with her beautiful left paw, her laser strikes and her ability to find angles.

Alexandra, for her part, triumphed at the US Open, in 2022, but as a junior. A category in which she shone since she also won the 2020 Australian Open and 2021 Roland-Garros in doubles. All this to say that it is far from arriving out of nowhere. Furthermore, she was crowned at the Petits As in 2018 and has just won, in Madrid (where she was the beneficiary of a wild card), her first success on the main circuit at the expense of the Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko (2 /6, 6/4, 6/4).

Not bad for a player who is originally more comfortable on hard. But not surprising either when we know that she has been training for five years at the Rafa Nadal Academy, where she is now based and coached by the Spaniard Joan Bosch. Which, of course, gives him privileged relations with the master of the place and boss of the eponymous academy, a certain Rafael Nadal .

“ Rafa? I see him training every day, on the court and in the gym. I find it quite surreal and I try to measure how lucky I am ,” says the one who occupies this week 160th place in the world. " I don't know if we should be optimistic about his chances of seeing him win here, but what I can tell you is that he works very hard. He has the mentality of a bull. there is one who can do it, it’s him… ”

Finally, if you didn't have the reference and to answer the opening riddle, Alex Eala was born the day Rafael Nadal won the very first match of his career at Roland-Garros against Lars Burgsmüller . If that's not a sign of destiny...
