Any love for the Dunlop Bio 300?

I thought I would start another 'love' thread. The world needs more love in it.

Is anyone else loving their Bio 300?

I have two, both matched with Gamma leather grips and strung at 60lbs with silk (hey, I like it :)). And they both weigh exactly 315g, with no other tinkering.

I find the power with these rackets is more than adequate and the control is exceptional. I use mine for both singles and doubles and it is a great all round racket.

Who is else is using these and what are your set ups? Pics always welcome!

Happy hitting TT'ers :)

I have a couple Bio 200's. Incredibly ugly paint job. Designers must be Goths. Racquets themselves are good sticks, typical Dunlop donky feel but very comfortable and controllable.

I did hear that Robert Smith from The Cure was involved in the design of the 300 and the red represents his lipstick. :)

Huh, I have the Bio 200 and think its a kick @ss paint job. Very unique feel to the sweepspot like hitting a big pile of foam.

I picked up a few yesterday... (300)

REALLY cheap too. I'm going to lead them up to match my Bio Max 200Gs since they are the same mold.

Had my Bio300T for 2 months, weighted to around 335 and SW around 325, but took off 12" of 1/4" lead tape at the head today..... Hate it. Now it's neither here nor there.
Got to hit with a dead stock Bio300 today, and boy, is it tinny and light. Solid shots just didn't feel solid, compared to the 18x20 setup. OTOH, soft slices showed great touch, and the strings felt resilent on medium speed swings, something my T doesn't seem to offer.
Don't know tension on the 300 I tried, but my T is strung at 52 lbs.

Horses for courses as ever, but I guess if you are used to heavier rackets, a stock 300 will feel light at 305g. And I do think it needs a bit of weight added to it, hence adding a leather grip, for both feel and extra weight in the handle. It does make a difference.

But it is a very versatile, easy to use racket. With the extra 10g in the handle, I find it very solid against hard hitters but also very quick at the net.

And I like the pj. Nothing too loud and nice symmetry.

Yes, there are a few pics around of Mac using a Bio 300 pj with his leather grip and it is the same mold and string pattern, so an obvious candidate to lead up to match the 200g.

The Dunlop leather grip will add about 10-15g, which would perhaps indicate that only a couple of grams of lead would match it up nicely.

Both nice pj's too.

I will concede that the pj is unique. I have a 4D200T and the pj on that frame is very attractive. I agree with you on the feel. Very much old school dunlop feel. The 200T is totally different. More like slamming a sledgehammer into the ground.

Hi robbo1970, Since you bought 2 bio 300, could you please measure the balance point? I know the weight is spot on however I am more concern the balance point.

I am tossing between Wilson BLX Six One Pro staff 95 and Dunlop Bio 200 lite. However after reading this forum I got an impression that Wilson quality control is lacking. So I am curious how good Dunlop quality control compare to Wilson. Thanks

My son, a 16 high school player, chose this frame. He loves it and plays well with it. As he plays mostly doubles, it comes to net easily and he can put away most volleys with ease. From the baseline he can drive the ball very deep in the court. His is strung with Silk @58#'s. Plays with one over grip and head tape, he is rough on racquets and has chipped the paint in several areas around the head.

I've hit with the Bio 300 a few times and its a nice frame. I can drive the ball or produce lots of spin on shots. I have attempted kick serves with it as well to okay results. (Thats more to my technique than the frame). Overall, I would have to up the weight a bit to make it a bit more stable. On a heavy ball I struggle with return.

Yes it is extremely versatile in all areas of the court. I have had the same results. Any errors I can only put down to myself.

I have silk at 60lbs and I like it. I know what you mean about the weight, but I just added leather grips and it just gives that bit more stability and headlight balance.

Dunlop quality control is up there with the best. Both my 300's matched in spec form and match with the same brand of leather grip on both (Gamma).

With the Gamma leather, the static weight on both is 315g without overgrip or dampener. Both are about 5/6 pts headlight now. Very similar really to the Bio Max200G but overall about 10g's lighter.

The Bio200 Lite is mentioned on other threads and gets very good reviews.

He mentioned that he was hitting long on the forehand side somewhat. We have discussed stringing it next time @ 60lbs to help his control. I haven't measured his to determine the balance. I'm taking a guess that it is about 1-2pts HL. If I was playing with this frame I would have to adjust the balance to about 5pts HL.

I had one strung at 55 and I had the same feel. Hitting a bit long and less control. At 60 is spot on. The rec tension is 55-65 so bang in the middle seems right for this racket.

In stock it is about 2 pts HL but leather adds a firm solid feel in the handle and will get you to 5/6 pts HL. If you like leather grips, I strongly recommend it.

leaded my handle up on my 2 frames, got them to 335g and 11.8 oz at 8 HL. They hit nice but think I need to go up in string tension, right now hybrid 52/55, feels like rocket launcher. May just try a syn gut at 58 or so, as stiffness and poly would kill the elbow at higher tension. Not fully in love but like the feel of a little extra power.
Still may go back to my trusty AG100s though.

Im a big fan of the Bio 300. Plays much better than the 4d version, and very similar to the HM 300G.

Posted some pics of my 300 collection on the "post pics of your rackets and tennis gear" page

Yes I saw, great collection. I use my EXO3 93 on ocassion, but always find myself coming back to the Bio300, just because its so versatile. I put a leather grip on my Bio300's and it just adds that little bit of extra weight in the handle. Makes it really nice to play with.

I have one in my collection.

I have some silicone in the handle (7 grams) and lead at 12 and a bit above 3&9 (about 7 grams total lead).

With the extra weight and silicone this racket actually feels very good - plush, yet solid.

In play I consider it a jack of all trades master of none - you can play spin or drive, but it is not the best for either.

String it with 16g at low tensions for best results.
