what rackets are you using? :)

I am playing a lot this year! and want to find a new racket that won't bring along injuries!

currently trying out Phantom 100.. i really enjoy the fact i don't go home feeling pain. but.. i feel it lacks power. :(

so am curious what other small framed people are using!

I'm pretty skinny but I've always used heavier racquets (K90, 6.95, PDR+, RF97) until I recently switched to the Blade 98 16x19. I just kind of....have pain, unless I've been playing a TON and my body has adjusted.

Skinny and tall here with twig arms. Currently playing with a Blade CV 16x19 after a long time with the Pure Aero. Been having some GE issues adjusting to the new frame but I’m starting to build up strength to use it and there’s not much pain anymore.

I'm a skinny stick (5'9 125lbs) but swing a Prince 93P...most of my racquets are in the 355g range strung w/ dampener.
Lighter racquets tend to aggravate wrist issues for me.

I've been meaning to try an Angell TC95 or TC97...they look good for something in the 340g range and sound well dampened because they're foam filled.

You also might want to try nat gut and adding a bit of lead to the tip for more power on your Phantom 100 first...

Add some weight to 12 O'Clock and lower the tensions on your strings. The Phantom is a low powered frame but power is the easiest thing to remedy with strings.

It's easy to adjust spin potential and power. It's really tough to make a racket more comfortable.

My wife is skinny and medium height, and she uses the Phantom 100. It's my personal second favorite racquet after the Phantom 93P, and for my wife the Phantom 100 is one of the most serviceable racquets that gets it right in many areas - arm friendly, spin friendly, easy to swing, generous sweet spot. Her Phantom 100 is strung with a multifilament string (Prince Premier Control) and it still gets good spin potential and good power.

Like other said, if you feel power is lacking, I think the first thing to try out would be to either try a multifilament string or get a pack of lead tape for a couple dollars and add two 4-inch strips (which will equal to 2 grams) or two 2-inch strips if you want to play it safe, and stick it on the center tip of the racquet to see if that makes a difference and adjust from there.

Wow 5'9 125 lbs!!! Is that intentional (diet/exercise) or are you one of those people that just can't gain weight no matter how hard they try?

The haters will hate, but try a Babolat Pure Drive. It seems to be one of the racquets of choice for junior girls who may be about your size/strength level.

I'm 5'6" 150lbs and use the Beast 98 with leather grip, poster tac in the handle, and some lead at 3&9 its ended up at 11.8oz 5-6pts HL. However I have been using my grey Wilson Graphite Matrix more and more - 12.7oz 16x19 and an 85sq in head that feels like a 95. It is unreal on returns and volleys. Now that I'm learning to serve more efficiently with it, its really fun to play with. I play about 3-4 X per week (after I've fed balls for at least an hour or so each day).

I'm a similar height and build as you.
To make up for my lack of bulk, I play with extended length rackets.
I have the TC97 and iPrestige XL. Love the TC97 for serving but find myself always going back to the addicting feel of the Austrian-Made prestige.

I don’t see junior girls all walking around with tennis elbow. It’s the strings not the racquet.

It's likely the form and the limber elastic tendons that are saving junior girls.

Not sure the OP is a junior girl so its hard to suggest a racquet tolerated but juniors will be tolerated by someone older.

It is actually both! A stiff light racquet is not doing your arm any favors and adding poly makes it worst.

I’m not so sure. I see a lot of juniors playing with stiff racquets strung up with synthetic gut, and arm problems never arise. Maybe it is just youth, as you say, and it may indeed be. But I seem to never see adults getting arm problems from a Pure Aero with synthetic gut either. It’s always the middle aged guy with a Pure Aero and Lux Original or something that ends up with tennis or golfers elbow.

Admittedly I think the new Pure Aero is easier on the arms than the cortex APD's and Pure Drives. Seeing less arm braces these days. The arm killers I see are the cortex Babolats, the pre-CV Wilson Ultras. Many of those folks have arm braces.

But I know I had no problem with my Pure Drives and APD's until I turned 50 and started playing more. So age and other factors will always play a role. Supple tendons and good form makes up for a lot when it comes to tennis.

One of the best racquets for you to try is the Wilson Blade 104. It is probably the easiest racquet I have used. Its head size is large but not oversized, so its very forgiving. The frame is flexible enough for good comfort but still powerful enough for easy depth. It's one of the few racquets out there that can be suitable for a very wide range of players, from beginner to advanced. It is the racquet I chose for my brother to use, he is a novice player with a smaller build. I recommend using it with a multifilament string.

I like this racket. Had the SW model for a while but it was a bit too harsh for my TE. Could probably play with it again. But my wife uses it and she just powers through women with it. It's really stable for an OS frame. Probably the only time I've seen someone really change their results with a racquet change. She was using a PD 107 but had no control. The Blade SW 104 totally brought her control up with more power and fewer errors.
