Any recommendations for a soft poly?

Absolutely loving Tier One Ghostwire in my PK Q Tours. Don't have anything to compare it to as it's my first foray in to the poly world having only played with multis and SG since taking up tennis again after a 20 year hiatus (due to pre-existing elbow problems).

It's as least as comfortable as the full bed of Head Velocity I had in before. It has more power (bearing in mind it is strung lower, 44/40 vs. 52/48), but there's so much more spin when needed I can really swing out at my targets and let the inherent control from the frame do it's thing, and because I can string it so much lower than the Velocity, the pocketing, feel and touch are all improved too.

Logged about 5.5 hours on it so far and still performing well.

Full bed? One of my TC95s has a hybrid of some Genesis poly main and Ghost Wire crosses, and the results are great. It's a long story of selling my frames and getting them back with a different setup than I'm used to, but compared to the full bed of Spyder 8 in the other frame, the hybrid with Ghost Wire in the crosses is fabulous--and that's with a main that I don't prefer. Good string.

The proof is in the eating of the pudding. Cross strings can easily be replaced when you clamp your racquet.

No thanks. I'm gonna be restringing both frames. I have a pack of Volkl V-Star 18, a pack of Cyclone 18, and a pack of Polyfibre Hightec 18. I was wondering more about possible hybrid combinations among those. At this point, I'm probably moving away from Cyclone. There are too many good, soft polys out there, and I like at least one soft string in my hybrids. So I'm thinking V-Star mains/Polyfibre Hightec crosses. Or maybe flipping those.

I'm curious to see which I prefer between Ghost Wire and Polyfibre Hightec. Probably Ghost Wire.

Yeah, full bed.

Blows my mind that I can string at 44/40 and not sail the ball long all the time. Big power upgrade from FB Velocity but the ball just stays in the court no matter how much I go after my shots.

Played a league doubles match against a pair we've not beaten in two previous meetings and rolled them 6-1 6-2 in under an hour last night. Literally couldn't miss anything.

Might start testing some other mains but very happy with this setup for now.

I'll definitely try it in a full bed. Like I mentioned, I have it as crosses in one of my frames with a poly main that I have no point of reference for, and it's playing great. But, it's the crosses that I'm liking. They're pocketing the ball like crazy, but the friction between the strings must be low, because I'm getting more bite than my previous gut/poly setup. I'm actually more intrigued by the full bed potential because I like a soft string bed with lots of dwell. And if I can get that from a poly, then it's a no brainer.

I know Gamma strings don't get much praise on these forums, but they have a strong relationship with my local shop so they string them a lot. I demoed a racquet that was strung with Moto Soft and I enjoyed it. I found it to be quite comfortable.
I really like the Gamma iO Soft 16.

Which of these do you recomend as the softest string?

Polyfibre COBRA 18
Polyfibre Viper 18
Volkl Cyclone Tour?

the only problem w vstar is tension maintenance. i got one of my blades strung with it at 50 lbs and after 2 hrs (approx) its at 30 or a little below

I have to agree. Actually, I went with Black Knight mains and Polyfibre Hightec crosses instead. I'm still a little lost in the woods with all of this but am most impressed so far with Ghost Wire of the polys I've hit. Will keep using v-star for my son's gut/poly hybrids in his radicals. He loves it.

i did mean to say 2 hrs of hitting, however, the stuff loses tension even without use. i have a ton of it and probably get it strung up more than anything else, it can just be a little off-putting when all of a sudden im hitting with a butterfly net

You can tell stringing it that it's stretchy. It's a good poly, but you're right about the sudden changes. I had it in a gut/poly hybrid in an 18x20 through the winter. Wasn't blowing me away towards the end. I know I keep going back to it, but these Tier One strings are legit. Take whatever main you prefer and cross it with Ghost Wire, and you're gonna be happy.
